The Quality Manager will support Shop Directors to continuously improve, define and approve all and new Global Ops requirements. The Quality Manager will also collaborate across all manufacturing disciplines to drive common and standardized manufacturing launch quality system requirements, procedures, metrics, and standard methodologies in accordance with BIQ IV Principle. This role also serves as the BIQ IV plant principle for both Pontiac and Flint Metal Center. Addressing Manufacturing requirements upfront in Global Product Development process and PQRRs and will support all launch improvement initiatives. Travel will be required between each stamping facility and customer plants to actively participate in 5F, launch and problem solving on a weekly basis.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Manage and direct a group of employees responsible for Operations Quality deliverables of projects and/or programs.
- Provide oversight of product quality initiatives in the stamping plants in assigned geography.
- Develop and maintain products, processes, standards, or operational plans in support of the organization's business strategies with a direct impact on business and/or function overall results.
- Influences others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
- Identifying problems, updating or modifying working methods.
- Promote GM's values and makes customer-focused decisions.
- Establish a network of contacts to attain relevant feedback/feedforward to protect the customer over customer concerns, upcoming product changes, EWOs/TWOs and PTRs.
- Build excellent customer relationships.
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 5 years of experience in quality and or manufacturing
- 3 years of people leader experience
- Ability to work over-time and off-shift (weekends and holidays)
- Ability to travel between Flint and Pontiac on a daily/weekly basis
- Strong background in continuous improvement and problem solving
- Knowledge of stamping, body shop and paint processes and quality control plans
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 8+ years of experience in quality and or manufacturing
- 3+ years of people leader experience
- Experience working in a stamping plant
- Experience working in a plant body shop
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience working in a union environment
- GMS/BIQ IV calibration experience
- Launch experience
- Lean six sigma experience
- Global Surface Quality Evaluation (GSQE) buyoff experience and/or stamping panel surface experience
