The Role:
This position is the single point "voice of the customer" supporting the Propulsion System Chief Engineer and Program Manager to assure segment leadership in J.D. Power / Warranty IPTV and Cost reduction initiatives. This position also represents propulsion systems with the vehicle platform program quality leadership and program teams.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Perform early issue identification, tracking and resolution to ensure segment leadership.
- Provide clear and timely communication to Quality management relative to quality issues.
- Lead launch and current product problem solving activities.
- Deploy quality work according to planned development timing.
- Work with the product team to identify and capture critical status updates for Quality reviews.
- Facilitate Quality Review meetings and integrity of presentation materials.
- Support GPS Program Execution Team (PET) with quality analysis information.
- Help Facilitate Program team Pre-PIT / CPIT meetings.
- Provide detailed analysis on every issue to champions for resolution and actively approach issues including warranty claims / CTF / CVEP / DTC / TAC / JDP / etc.
- Analyze, project and track warranty and Customer survey information.
- Support the development of the global quality planning process and templates.
- Oversee engine / transmission exchange programs and teardowns.
- Support Quality Deep Dives / Sector Reviews / Quality Councils.
- Complete retrofit requests and support special quality studies.
- Build and cultivate relationships across multiple functions and regions.
- Travel to suppliers, customers, and sister plants occasionally.
Additional Description
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 2 years of Quality Engineering experience.
- Ability to work off-shift and over-time.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills and comfortable presenting to large groups and varying levels of management.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 2+ years of Quality Engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of GM Quality Systems and requirements.
- Experience with GMS.
- Process and product knowledge of manufacturing.
- Red X training (any level).
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, GD&T, math data, gage reports and other engineering documentation.
- Proficiency and knowledge of the requirements in the Global Quality Manual.
