Work Arrangement:
On Site: The successful candidate will be expected to report to our automotive assembly plant in Lake Orion, Michigan, five times per week, at a minimum.
The Role:
The Paint Launch Manager will lead all launch-related activities within the Paint Shop, reporting directly to the Plant Launch Operations Manager. This role serves as the primary liaison between the Launch Team and the Paint Shop Area Manager, ensuring seamless coordination across departments.
The main purpose of this role is to ensure flawless execution of Paint Shop deliverables, resolve launch-related issues, and support the development of a trained and capable Paint Shop organization.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Serve as the Paint Shop liaison for launch-related issues, engaging with Engineering, PDT, and CIT teams.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of build issues using the 7-diamond process.
- Coordinate change management, PTRs, EWOs, and reworks.
- Facilitate daily issue meetings and ensure containment and corrective actions are in place.
- Support JES/SOS development and cross-departmental issue resolution.
- Maintain and update Body Shop Master Dot deliverables.
- Communicate launch status to PLOM and Area Manager.
- Oversee validation builds, ensuring ergonomic, safety, and throughput standards.
- Provide input on layout development and operator readiness.
- Monitor build performance and ensure compliance with weld destruct and dimensional plans.
- Develop and execute Body Shop training plans for operators and skilled trades.
- Capture and apply lessons learned from previous and current programs.
- Lead workshops and support Process Verification Builds.
- Lead the Paint Shop launch team and manage daily activities, PIT, and budget.
- Coordinate plant participation in validation builds and tool shop buyoffs.
- Forecast and secure plant resources for launch execution.
- Ensure flawless execution of Paint Shop launch deliverables.
- Deliver a trained and prepared Paint Shop team.
- Identify and resolve launch issues while sharing lessons learned.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 3+ years of launch experience in Paint, Body Shop or related areas.
- Experience in automotive manufacturing and launch environments.
- Strong leadership and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Deep understanding of Body Shop operations and tooling.
- Ability to manage complex timelines and deliverables.
What Gives You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Experience with GMS, Master Dot, and Process Verification.
- Familiarity with engineering change management and PTRs.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams.
