The Role

As the Operations Group Leader, you will you will responsible to implement and execute the established business plan for the operations and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. You will supervise a small group of technicians with varying responsibilities. You will manage the maintenance and repair of department equipment and vehicles with standard GM maintenance systems, manage repairs and maintenance to fleet vehicles, and provide leadership for other technical services provided by the team.

What You'll Do

- Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union, management, and other building tenants.

- Understands and consistently acts according to the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union.

- Promotes safe work practices and achieves objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.

- Motivates, trains and develops employees to perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods with increasing effectiveness.

- Ensures team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training).

- Effectively utilizes resources to ensure that customer requests are completed in a timely manner

- Conducts appropriate checks and tests, and monitor results for improvement

- Coaches employees utilizing common tools and formats for a represented setting

- Recommends solutions to problems and assists employees in implementing

- Responsible for preventative maintenance on-time completion and accuracy

- Has knowledge and ability to implement GMS principles and ensures active team participation

- Maintains frequent contact and collaboration with others outside of the work group and act as a liaison for other teams in our facility, ensuring smooth relations between working group and adherence to all safety guidelines.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

- Bachelor's degree with technical experience or technical associate's degree with 7+ years of experience required

- Prior leadership in a garage or lab setting required

- Deep experience with vehicle repair, garage safety protocol

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

- Experience in a UAW (United Auto Workers) setting

- Experience with vehicle control system interface tools

- Familiarity with Maximo system

- Prior experience at Milford Proving Ground
