Lead Systems Design Engineer - AD/ADAS

Description

The successful candidate will be leading the system design development of Automated Driving (L2++), ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance Systems), and Parking features with a key focus on developing a systems-level design that works for all features. This will require the candidate to be responsible for a small team of system design engineers whose responsibilities include feature moding, system degradation, lateral/longitudinal controls development, full interface design with handshakes to all vehicle ECUs and AD compute internal functional components, etc. This role will involve collaborating with various multi-functional development teams such as software, testing, validation, system safety, architecture teams, design and release, and other key partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end development of Systems-Level design for AD, ADAS, and Parking Features, which includes (and not limited to) the following deliverables: Requirements, system design, system behavioral diagrams, sequence and timing diagrams, interface definitions and structures, system models, FMEA, etc.
  • Provide regular key updates to the leadership to ensure synchronization and smooth flow of information.
  • Lead other system engineers by providing direction in all aspects of systems design development.
  • Lead Failure Mode Analysis (FMEA) activities and allocate identified failure modes to development teams.
  • Provide technical leadership for advancing new technology development.
  • Become the technical Subject Matter Expert and single-point-of-contact for all things related to AD/ADAS/Parking Systems Design
  • Develop talent and expertise within the Systems Design team.
  • Perform deeply complex trade-off studies to balance performance with complexity and cost.
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system specifications with tools such as Jama. Familiarity with industry tools for development and change management would be preferred, such as Jira, SysUML, FIT (FMEA), Matlab Simulink, Teamcenter, etc.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of automotive systems engineering experience and 8+ of total engineering experience.
  • Experience in automotive product release and specification process.
  • Proven experience to lead multi-functional teams across domains.
  • Deep knowledge of Systems Engineering principles and a proven track record of successful implementation.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfaces
  • Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as AD/ADAS systems, chassis and vehicle dynamics, automotive networks, propulsion, body controls, infotainment (HMI) etc.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills.
  • Travel to engineering sites and supplier offices as required.
