Lead Electronics Lab Engineer

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Lead Electronics Lab Engineer to join our team. You will support vehicle calibrators and engineers in the vehicle development and analysis domains. This role involves developing sophisticated software and hardware tools that will be instrumental in the design, testing and calibration of vehicle electronic subsystems. What You'll Do
- Design and troubleshoot digital and analog electronic circuits
- Develop embedded software and Windows-based applications
- Create and simulate electronic schematics and PCB layouts
- Design mechanical enclosures and 3D models for new tools
- Support and administer relational databases (CTMS)
- Analyze, repair, and re-flash legacy tools
- Drive innovation through creative thinking and in-house prototyping

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications)
Education:
A formal education in electronics and software is essential, providing the foundational knowledge required for effective design, analysis, and troubleshooting of electronic circuits and systems. However, a highly experienced and proficient electronics technician with a deep understanding of both hardware and software may also be considered.
Electronics:
- Proficient in digital circuit design (microprocessors, embedded controllers)
- Interfaces: CAN, SENT, UART, etc.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply unfamiliar technologies
- Skilled in analog circuit design (Op-Amps, FETs, sensors)
- Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
Software Development:
- Proficient in embedded C, C++, C#, and Python
- Experience with Visual Studio for Windows application development
CAD & 3D Modeling:
- Develop electronic schematics and PCB layouts
- Perform circuit simulations
- Design mechanical enclosures with awareness of machining constraints (CNC, 3D printing)
Systems & Tools:
- Support CTMS relational database queries and administration
- Manage user access, dashboards, and first-line troubleshooting
- Work with legacy tools for diagnostics and updates
Creative Thinking:
- Ability to develop innovative solutions to recurring challenges
- Contribute to lab efficiency by supporting in-house manufacturing (e.g., PCB assembly)
