Hybrid: Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be on-site an average of three (3) days each week.

The Role

The Global Manufacturing Software Project Team Lead is critical for improving the quality of GM products including reducing warranty and improving customer vehicle order delays by preventing defects through yard software updates and unknown vehicle impact due to yard activities. This role will help the vehicle plants integrate new software into their produced vehicles as seamlessly as possible. This role is defining the standards for the future of GM.

  • Collaborate to strategically develop standards around vehicle software
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product to reduce software complexity across General Motors vehicle platforms.
  • Create standards for software integration during launch of new vehicle programs.
  • Define the most effective way to deliver software seamlessly to General Motors vehicles.
  • Develop new standards to help ongoing activities and future projects.
  • Own, document and optimize the re-flash process to ensure delivery to high targets.
  • Perform daily re-flash log audits to ensure process robustness and that vehicles are being delivered while meeting GM's quality standards.
  • Lead Software collaboration efforts including, Complexity Reduction, Launch Read Across, Software Release and Re-Flash Activities.
  • Understand top issues manufacturing is experiencing and read across to future programs to drive early intervention.

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree with preferred focus in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge in both Internal Combustion Engine (I.C.E) and Electric Vehicle architectures
  • Vehicle electrical sub-systems experience (engine controls, ABS, air bag, body controllers)
  • Automotive assembly plant operations.
  • 50% travel required- - North America, Germany, China

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Familiarity with all GM EOL test stations
  • Expertise in GM vehicle software development and deployment strategies
  • Proficient in GM vehicle safety standards
  • GM quality systems
  • GM vehicle development process
  • Familiarity with vehicle electrical architecture (i.e., ISO 14229, Cybersecurity, Ethernet)

This position is not eligible for ISP, ITAP, or localizations.
