On-Site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a building's functionality, maintenance and security, ensuring the safety and suitability of the space for occupants by managing tasks like cleaning, security, repairs, building systems, and space planning, and coordinating with contractors to address maintenance needs

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the manufacturing facility, including building systems, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure
  • Manage facility projects, including renovations, expansions, and reconfigurations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and budgetary constraints
  • Coordinate and oversee external contractors and service providers for facility maintenance and repairs
  • Monitor facility expenses, review contracts, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality
  • Plan and execute routine maintenance schedules for building systems like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety equipment
  • Ensure that basic facilities, such as water and heating, are well-maintained
  • Plan for future development in line with strategic business objectives
  • Keep building and all facilities up to code and accurately follow maintenance protocol
  • Implement energy-efficient practices and promote environmentally friendly building operations
  • Security and Emergency Preparedness:

    • Oversee security of buildings and grounds
    • Ensure proper security measures for the workplace, including collaborating with security system vendors
    • Develop and implement security protocols, access control systems, and emergency response plans to protect the facility, employees, and company assets
    • Conduct regular security assessments and drills and make recommendations for improvements to address vulnerabilities
    • Investigate security incidents, accidents, and near-miss events, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
    • Manage the security badge system for employees and visitors
  • Provides technical leadership to work team
  • Interacts and collaborates with many teams cross-functionally
  • Leads team on new methods or initiatives without defined procedures
  • Leads team to meet targets
  • Reviews and approves engineering documentation, e.g. requirements, documents
  • Identifies & leads staffing initiatives for work team
  • Conducts regularly scheduled Group Meetings, Communicates GM Policies & Procedures, Leadership and Safety Messages
  • Creates and communicates vision & strategies specific to functional responsibilities (may include preparing and giving presentations)
  • Ensure employees complete all mandatory GM training and any specific training related to functional responsibility
  • Understands & supports employee's career development goals
  • Develops and executes initiatives to improve work team capability and increase work team capacity
  • Assigns and manages workload for direct reports
  • Sets individual employee and group priorities
  • Reviews and approves employee work and overtime schedules, expenses, and other work-related data
  • Evaluating Performance and Behaviors: Reviews deliverables and provides candid & constructive feedback
  • Conducts performance interventions when necessary
  • Formally & informally recognizes employee's contributions
  • Provides timely and consistent feedback to direct employee's as appropriate
  • Participates in compensation planning and administers compensation treatment

Additional Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or equivalent professional level experience
  • 5 -7 years of experience in facilities maintenance or equivalent related functions
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in facilities management
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management
  • Must be a well-organized, detailed and customer (internal and external) oriented self-starter
  • Strong procurement and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, equipment, and maintenance and ability to diagnose and resolve a wide range of facility-related issues
  • Familiarity with relevant safety and environmental regulations
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and time management skills with acute attention to detail
  • Able to work on-site on holidays, weekends, and/or evenings, if needed
  • Able to be on call outside of normal working hours
  • Prior Salaried people leader experience
  • Has experience writing Appropriation Requests, and has maintained project spending information for prior projects - on-time and on-budget history a-plus
  • Proficient in developing and adhering to MS Project timelines
  • Ability to work OT and off-shift on an as needed basis
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 5+ years technical facilities knowledge & experience
  • MBA/MS Engineering or Business Administration
  • Prior project/program management leadership experience
  • Prior Manufacturing assignment & solid working relationship with UAW
  • Working knowledge and relationship with key contacts of major Functional Groups, including: GPSC, Engineering, Quality, CME, Advanced PE, Finance, SQE/AQE, Corporate NPP/MBC staff
  • Has experience writing Appropriation Requests, and has maintained project spending information for prior projects - on-time and on-budget history a-plus
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and track record of working collaboratively with cross functional teams to achieve project/program deliverables on time
  • Demonstrated willingness to escalate emerging issues and leads team to resolve quickly and competently
  • Works constructively with others under pressure to achieve all Project Imperatives
  • Strong ability to multi-task and leverage resources to attain challenging goals
