The Role:
The Engineering Group Manager position in the TRP Diagnostics & Prognostics team will lead a team of engineers focused on Testing and Battery Life Modeling. The TRP organization is focused on end-to-end delivery of software for the detection and prevention of thermal events in high voltage batteries for GM's EV portfolio. This includes both on-board and off-board diagnostic and prognostic development and representation of safety critical content at the highest levels of the company.

- Development for individuals at all levels of the team from new hires to senior engineers
- Nurturing a Safety and Inclusivity focused culture
- Relationship building with partner organizations for alignment on tactical and strategic goals
Execution Leadership
- Communication of priorities, impacts, and removing roadblocks, while supporting agile development principles
- Empowering teams to deliver product on-time with quality executions in an agile framework
- Managing and delivering to budget targets for the organization
Strategic Leadership
- Supporting a vision and roadmap for the organization's future
- Champion a culture of innovation and change agility
- Finding opportunities for the application of data to expand the impact for the organization
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control system, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development
- Demonstrated results in successful project execution
- Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction and represent the organization in high level forums
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions regarding safety critical systems
- Working knowledge of the software development and delivery process, including design, coding, testing, calibration, and deployment of embedded content
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
- Master of Science in in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Aerospace, Systems or Software Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration
- Leadership experience of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems
- Working knowledge of HV RESS systems and their failure modes
- Leadership experience in safety compliance of embedded systems
- Experience in working in an Agile development framework
- Leadership of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems or related hardware
- Working knowledge of embedded controls development tool set - (e.g. IBM Rational Tool Suite, Jira/Jira Align, Git ecosystem)
