This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Cole Engineering Center Podium location three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business].

The Role:
Selected candidate must have Electric Power experience or strong desire and transferable skills to work on 12 / 48V Electric Power Systems (components may include, but not limited to generators, lead acid batteries, Lithium Ion batteries, battery sensors, DC/AC inverters and DC/DC converter). As a Electric Power Hardware DRE , you will be responsible for leading product development and integration activities. Responsibilities include utilizing engineering tools and processes to successfully develop components and systems for vehicle programs.

Effectively achieve program milestones by thorough and rigorous program management and technical skills. You will coach and lead suppliers to timely execution of program deliverables with quality.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading a product development team (PDT) and managing the development and release of new electric power technology in support of program timing and execution
- Ensure the design, development, and release of hardware components are robustly integrated within the vehicle architecture with the highest quality. Release and support parts for production and pre-production builds including remediation and retrofits/ updating of hardware with latest software throughout development and launch as required
- Manage supplier timing; develop recovery plans, issue investigation and resolution; ensuring part and/or software deliveries to benches, vehicles, and assembly plants are on time.
- Work closely with the electric power Software to support integration of software into hardware for high quality integration
- Own the component Statement of Requirements and support system & component development via component timing plan, ensuring compliance matrix complete, issues resolved quickly, ensuring completeness and accuracy as well as managing changes as required
- Manage cost, quality, mass, and other KPIs, ensuring a robust and efficient design by working with various simulation & test teams to ensure high quality vehicle integration and robust interfaces. This includes ensuring accuracy and working with the supplier to develop design changes to meet GM KPIs.
- Identify manage and track GM deliverables for completeness and compliance with timing to ensure the supply base can maintain timing
- Collaborate with AVDC and propose technical solutions for current/new programs
- Responsible for executing quality chain deliverables per GM process of engineering including design reviews, validation, program sub system DFMEA, supplier DFMEA reviews and DRBFMs to drive defect free components
- Coordinate with GM Virtual teams for necessary simulation for design studies and virtual validation including: finite element, modal analysis, electrical evaluation and corresponding issue resolution
- Responsible for reviewing and ensuring designs meet regulatory requirements and proper documentation of compliance.
- Assist with bench marking analysis to support innovation, trade off or cost /benefit analysis
- Communicate, coordinate, and consult with other engineering departments, suppliers and customers for overall engineering activities including: interface control documents (ICDm and ICDe) , Jira Needs, ECRs, and work with integration counterparts to develop robust and efficient solutions that are fully validated at the component and system level
- Effectively communicate status updates to Vehicle Chief Engineer and Program Team, as well as engineering leadership
- Proactively track and lead investigation and resolution of QRD/Warranty/Development concerns for component or for affected components by deep diving data, working with QRD team, supplier and/or GM internal counterparts (for integration issues) for resolution and containment of issues to drive down overall warranty
- "Close the Loop" on learnings by providing feedback and working with Tech Specialist to update required information (Best Practices, GM Specifications, SOR Template, Validation plans)
- Document issue progress in Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS)
- Review test plans and ensure timely completion of validation.
- Mentor and assist others as the opportunities arise

Additional Description
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of overall experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a job-related area
- Prior experience in electrical/electronic component design/release a plus but not required for this assignment
- Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
- Specific knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, metallurgy and manufacturing methods engineering
- Knowledge of software development and systems as it pertains to engineering preferred
- Understanding of product design and process interdependencies
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
- High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to operate test vehicles
Preferred Qualifications:
- DFMEA training
- Electronic Validation Experience
- DFSS Certification
- Software Controls/wiring/battery experience
- Design/Development of Safety Critical Systems/Components
- Experience with Process of Engineering (POE/Stages)
- Experience with Electronic Power devices a plus
- Any Calibration tool or modification skills are a plus
- Understanding of HIL test methods
- Prior experience in Validation
- Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering for DFM
- Prior experience in Calibration work
- Prior experience negotiating between parties
- Prior commercial experience a plus for negotiations with supply base
- Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to engineering
- Knowledge of Team Center Systems Engineering and/or IBM DNG requirements management tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of Jira, SAFe, agile principles and tools

- Experience with simulation such as teamcenter, Simulink, matlab, saber, ansy
