As a Production Leader at Orion Assembly, you will take a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and team performance. While you will not have direct line management responsibility for individual employees, you will be accountable for the overall performance of cross-functional teams. Your role will encompass using independent judgment within Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) guidelines to address complex challenges and deliver results aligned with Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE) principles.
What You'll Do
- Operational Leadership:
- Optimize daily production operations at Orion Assembly to ensure adherence to quality standards, lean manufacturing practices, and robust safety protocols.
- Develop operational plans that drive performance improvements and proactively address production challenges.
- Team Performance:
- Influence team performance by working closely with team leads, providing guidance, and ensuring effective collaboration among cross-functional groups.
- Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives by promoting open communication, sharing best practices, and supporting performance-driven culture.
- Process and Quality Management:
- Monitor and communicate quality objectives while leveraging data analytics to resolve issues and prevent the recurrence of problems.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and the National/Local Union Agreements with the United Auto Workers Union, upholding rigorous Process Control Plan (PCP) standards.
- Cross-Functional Integration and Automation:
- Partner with engineering, maintenance, IT, and union teams to align advanced production automation systems with human operations, ensuring seamless process integration.
- Support GMS initiatives by coordinating cross-team efforts to drive launch activities and continuous improvement projects.
- Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Analyze production metrics to inform strategic planning, ensuring production targets and cost schedules are met while driving operational efficiencies.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of new initiatives and expansion projects by leveraging innovative, data-driven insights.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Performance Leadership:
- Proven ability to drive team outcomes and influence the performance of cross-functional groups without direct supervisory authority.
- Skilled in mentoring and coaching team leads to foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment.
- Operational & Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean production principles, and quality standards essential for optimizing production operations.
- Strong analytical skills to assess production data and resolve complex operational challenges.
- Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
- Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with team leads, union representatives, and management.
- Ability to build relationships that promote cross-functional teamwork and open dialogue.
- Business Acumen & Compliance:
- Solid understanding of business processes with the ability to ensure adherence to internal standards, union agreements, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) or similar operational frameworks is advantageous.
- Educational Background:
- A Bachelor's degree in operations management, engineering, or a related field (or 5 + years equivalent professional experience) is required.
