Work Arrangement
Onsite - This position requires the employee to be onsite full time in support of RESS manufacturing sites. The primary work location will be at the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI. Travel to GMNA RESS manufacturing sites will be frequent as you support implementation of process solutions.
The Role
We are seeking a Battery Assembly Process Engineer to join our GPS Manufacturing Engineering Pack assembly team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting innovative solutions in Autonomous Mobile Robot equipment. You will work closely with RESS Subject Matter Experts and site plant engineering to deliver innovative solutions that enhance the performance, reliability and safety of our RESS assembly line equipment.

What You'll Do:
- Design, develop and execute Autonomous Mobile Robot solutions to enhance GM's RESS manufacturing operations across multiple GMNA facilities.
- Assist the Manufacturing Engineering Team in specifying requirements, execution and evaluation of designs, analysis, development, testing and control of major engineering projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as a moderate level of independent judgment.
- Collaborate with GMNA assembly plants to ensure seamless integration of Autonomous Mobile Robot systems.
- Handle a range of moderate scope problems that are frequently routine but may vary, requiring analysis of various factors. Follows through on difficult situations and is expected to see through resolution.
- Participate in feasibility studies and prototyping to explore new technologies and methodologies.
- Propose new initiatives and deliver solutions, driving cross team efforts. Recommends opportunities for process improvement to leadership & proactively anticipates needs within own area.
- Exercise judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
- Apply learned techniques to drive the solution to a problem, which typically will involve coordinating and integrating efforts of a diverse team of colleagues.
- Engage in daily interactions with subordinates and/or peers from other functional groups. These interactions typically involve the exchange or presentation of information. Required to collaborate with team members 1-2 levels above.
- Adapt communication style to reach agreement in own area in situations of moderate complexity, demonstrates flexibility and ability to compromise.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- 2+ years of experience in designing and developing Autonomous Mobile Robotic systems
- Strong knowledge of RESS assembly processes
- Experience with PLC controls logic
- Experience with GM Common Controls Standards
- Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- Advanced degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Controls Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in the robotics or automation industry.
- Experience in prototyping and feasibility studies.
- Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in planning and control systems for autonomous applications.
