Overview of Your Role:
The Assistant Director of International Tax is responsible for ensuring accurate calculation of U.S. tax impacts from GM's international operations for both the U.S. tax return and provision. In this strategic role, reporting to the International Tax Leader, you will deliver timely, practical guidance to achieve cash tax savings and optimize the effective tax rate, serving as a key partner in advancing GM's wider business objectives.
Your Responsibilities:
- Manage the preparation and review of international tax calculations for inclusion in the U.S tax return and provision
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Treasury, Legal and Finance to align tax strategies with broader business objectives
- Assist Tax Counsel with legislative analysis, tax controversy matters, M&A analysis and integration, and various planning initiatives
- Work closely with the Transfer Pricing team to assess the tax implications of settlements and controversies arising from Mutual Agreement Procedures
- Manage team performance, provide coaching, and support professional growth

Required Qualifications:
- CPA and/or attorney with 10+ years of relevant Big Four, law firm, or private industry experience.
- Experience with a U.S. based multinational Companies
- Significant U.S. international tax technical knowledge with hands on experience including GILTI, FDII, Subpart F, foreign tax credits, and Pillar II
- Communication and leadership skills with the ability to be viewed as a trusted advisor who can develop insights which influence action and articulate complex tax concepts to non-tax personnel
- Strong project coordination expertise Ability to cost effectively direct and manage internal and external budgets and advisor
Preferred qualifications:
- Masters in Tax
Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Rencenter Detroit, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]
