Sr. Technical Product Management- Rating & Underwriting

GEICO is looking for an accomplished, customer obsessed, and results oriented Senior Technical Product Manager to join GEICO's Acquire, Rating & Underwriting Product team.

In this position, you will be a single threaded owner who will bridge between the technical vision and specific solutions needed to solve a business problem. You will support cross-functional teams focused on improving the customer experience, modernizing our sales, rating & UW stacks, and leapfrogging the competition to grow market share.

This position is a hybrid role, and it is required to be on-site 3 days a week at one of the following locations:

  • Chevy Chase, MD
  • San Francisco, CA
  • New York City, NY
  • Seattle, WA
  • Indianapolis, IN
  • Chicago, IL
  • San Jose, CA
  • Fredericksburg, VA
  • Dallas, TX
The ideal applicant would be skilled in managing large programs, would be highly technical and would have Underwriting & Rating experience. If selected, you would be responsible for working with technology and business on the technical design & requirements, describing and managing the solution of a specific product or initiative, while also coordinating/communicating between different workstreams. You should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves to do the work, while also influencing organizational change through proper scoping, process improvement, and positive team dynamics.

The ideal candidate is excellent at:
  • Leading cross-functional teams that drive results during product discovery and product delivery.
  • Synthesizing business, market, and platform data to identify opportunities, size them, and turn insights into requirements.
  • Leveraging modern architecture & great design to identify problem-solution fit.
  • Evaluating trade-offs and negotiating requirements.
  • Creating and using compelling, informative artifacts to influence stakeholders (ex. Vision, Roadmaps, Features/Epics, Progress Updates, etc.).
  • Coaching and mentoring other Product Managers.
  • Knowledgeable on Underwriting, Rating, and Insurance Product Offerings (i.e., Modeling, Telematics, Product Definition).
  • Understanding of current and future state architecture.
  • Defining and owning a 6-9-month feature roadmap to drive priorities, taking value creation and cost to create value into consideration.
  • Identifying and measuring KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), with an eye to adjusting and refining your roadmap as the data dictates.
  • Having an end-to-end understanding of features and how they fit into the larger ecosystem to be able to anticipate impacts from changes in other parts of the business.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management
  • 5+ years of experience translating features into consumer or associate facing products
  • 5+ years managing all aspects of a product feature throughout its lifecycle from concept to delivery
  • 5+ years leading cross-functional teams that drive results during product discovery and product delivery.
  • High sense of accountability and strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Underwriting, Rating, and Insurance Product Offerings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to influence across the organization
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Agile certifications preferred (i.e., SAFe, Scrum Alliance, Scrum.Org, ICAgile, PMI-ACP)
Annual Salary
$128,000.00 - $224,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
