Our Principal Engineer is a lead member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge of Workday Extend application development and Workday Human Capital Management to align with organization programs, goals, and data security framework.

As a Principal Engineer, you will:

• Own complete solution across its entire life cycle

• Accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions

• Familiar with programming languages like Python, Java, C # or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services

• Mentor more junior team members professionally to help them realize their full potential

• Influence and build vision with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems

• Lead and drive delivery of assigned tasks by due date while regularly interacting with customers and stakeholders

• Manage the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of Workday Extend Applications supporting Workday HCM

• Work closely with stakeholders to analyze business requirements

• Lead product meetings and requirements gathering sessions

• Develop complex calculated fields to meet business requirements

• Collaborate with other Workday functional areas such as reporting, security, and integrations

• Create standard operating procedures and system documentation

• Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams

• Support Workday Releases and Adoption Item implementations

• Provide Workday Help case support for users

• Provide on-call support as required

• Communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner to customers, clients, and teams across the organization

Qualifications

• Familiarity with at least two modern languages such as Java, C++, Python or C# including object-oriented design

• Strong problem-solving ability

• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment

• Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication).

• Deep understanding of Workday Data Governance and reporting and/or integration processes, procedures, and best practices

• Experience contributing to solution design activities

• Advanced knowledge of Workday configuration including Calculated Fields and Security is preferred

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Strong attention to details

• Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, good judgment, mature and positive attitude

• Ability to concentrate and demonstrate a capacity for learning technical concepts and adapting to new technologies quickly

• One or more of the following Workday Pro Certifications are highly desired:

o Human Capital Management (HCM)

o Reporting

o Integrations

o Security

o Recruiting

o Learning

o Talent

o Payroll

o Compensation

o Benefits

Experience

• 6+ years of professional experience with Workday Human Capital Management (HCM)

• 3 + years of professional experience with Workday Extend Application development

• 4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks

• 3+ years of experience with architecture and design

• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

• 1+ years of people management experience

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary
$72,000.00 - $236,500.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
