As a Distinguished Engineer I, you will help drive our insurance business transformation as we redefine experience for our customers. Our Distinguished Engineer s work with our Principal and Sr. E ngineers , a s well as key stakeholders of the business, to innovate and build new systems, improve and enhance existing systems and i dentify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the Strategy and Execution of a technical roadmap that will increa se the v elocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep tec hnical ex pertise in their domain.

Position Responsibilities

As a Distinguished Engineer , you will:
  • Focus on a few key areas and p rovide technical and thought leadership to the enterprise .
  • Collaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve our toughest problems .
  • Develop and execute technical software development strategy for a variety of domains.
  • Accountable for the quality, usability & performance of the solutions.
  • Utilize programming languages like .NET , Java, Python, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of A zure tools and services .
  • Be a r ole model and mentor, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community . Influence and educate executives .
  • Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams .
  • A nalyz e cost and forecast , incorporating them into business plans .
  • D etermin e and support resource requirements , evaluat e operational processes , measur e outcomes to ensure desired results , and demonstrat e adaptability and sponsoring continuous learnin g.
Qualifications
  • Exemplary ability to design, perform experiments , and influence engineering direction and product roadmap
  • Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production
  • Track-record of publications history in credible conferences and journals
  • Practical knowledge of working in Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban/ SAFe )
  • Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code
  • In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms
  • Experience solving analytical problems with quantitative approaches
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
  • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)
  • Proven technical experience in Technology / Architecture Leadership role
  • Proven experience building influential and impactful relationships internally and externally to lead and drive change
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, proactive, and ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced work environment
Experience

• 10+ years of professional software development experience within a Java framework (J2EE, web containers and Java)

• 8+ years of experience with architecture and design

• 6+ years of experience in open-source frameworks

• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

• 3+ years of people management experience

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary
$110,000.00 - $300,500.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
