The Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer will report to the Advanced Mechanical Systems design sub-section manager and be responsible for the mechanical design, manufacture, and delivery of hardware used in the development testing of the next generation of narrow body jet engines. You will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems hardware (e.g. bearings, gears, sump hardware, lubrication systems) on RISE engine demonstrator programs to support ground/flight test demonstrators, rig tests, and product designs.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer, you will:

  • Work with a closely integrated team of engineers and scientists to design the next generation of jet engine turbomachinery.
  • Work closely with internal and external manufacturing organizations to deliver hardware for rig, core, and full engine testing.
  • Lead efforts to solve both technical and schedule related problems with guidance.
  • Present work to subject matter experts and program leaders at technical reviews.
  • Participate in technical reviews.
  • Ensure work is thoroughly documented.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • At least 3 additional years of experience in an engineering position

Desired Characteristics

  • Relevant design, analysis, or test experience with Mechanical Systems hardware or systems: bearings, gears, seals, shafts, structural housings, oil systems, air systems, heat exchangers
  • Proven facilitation and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams both locally and around the globe
  • Highly motivated self-starter focused on solving technical problems and driving solutions
  • Ability to create and execute program plans, as well as communicate status, challenges, and recovery plans effectively
  • At least 5 additional years of experience in an engineering position
