Turkey Technology Center (TTC) in Kartal/İstanbul, is one of GE Aerospace's nine engineering centers throughout the world, supporting aviation-related R&D and innovation projects that expand with new investments.

The Lead Engineer is an individual contributor 'hardware owning' engineer reporting to an Engineering Manager within the Aviation Engineering Division's Production Technologies team. As a hardware owner you will own all design engineering functions related to the production of assigned Commercial and Aero-derivative components in one of the following commodities:

In this role, you will be on the front lines of a new organization that is dedicated to improving the producibility, enhancing the Engineering-Supply chain relationship, and using SQDC to dramatically improve the health of the supply chain and product to enable the business to fulfil our customers' expectations. The role will involve solving manufacturing and producibility challenges while driving excellence through engineering and leadership characteristics.

Examples of specific tasks you will be responsible for are: producibility design changes, on-going manufacturing support, cost outs and strategic improvements on production related processes for the assigned commodity.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • With guidance from senior engineering resources; execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Execute the engineering analysis and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles to improve manufacturability of assigned components.
  • Collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines, manufacturing, quality and regularly communicate with commodity and industry experts to address delivery problems while promoting open and honest dialogue.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites to gain practical knowledge of hardware manufacturing.
  • Use engineering judgement to challenge entrenched processes and recommend improvements.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of engineering & manufacturing, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute on technically complex projects to meet technical requirements and business goals under mentorship of senior engineers.
  • Lead technical projects with low to moderate complexity through collaboration with field and industry experts.
  • Provide support for vendor qualification, producibility improvements, and hardware delivery.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Requirements:

  • Min Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a relevant engineering role.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in design of Aerospace components.
  • Experience with ANSYS and NX.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, especially of Aerospace components.
  • Certification in ASME Y14.5 or practical experience with GD&T.
  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams.
  • Interest in being a self-starter with a passion for problem solving and driving solutions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of turbomachinery system design.
