Job Description Summary

The design engineer is responsible for the mechanical design of Turbine Rotors for Large Military Engines derivatives and sustaining hardware. As a component design owner, the engineer will contribute to the design and development of Turbine Airfoil hardware that meets integrated requirements of the engine and airframe and is responsible to lead the design through preliminary and detailed design reviews following the DEQ process. Additionally, the component design owner will deliver finished part drawings while integrating with our Supply Chain to ensure a robust and producible parts. The role will involve working closely with the cross functional team including thermal design, materials, stress and life, manufacturing, systems, and product definition to ensure the part delivers differentiated customer outcomes. Further, the design engineer will support sustaining hardware (manufacturing/cost improvement, MRB, SPS, PPR).

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • Individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills who provides informal guidance to new team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in design engineering

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with hardware design and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in turbomachinery component design.
  • Proven facilitation and collaboration skills.
  • Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams.
  • Highly-motivated, passionate and exceptional communication skills (Oral and written).
  • Experience with computer-aided design software such as NX and with stress analysis software such as ANSYS.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
