Defense Engines Engineering Central Operations Leader

Job Description Summary

The Defense Engines Engineering Central Operations Leader has responsibility for several core deliverables within the Defense & Systems Engineering organization. This individual will be responsible but not limited to manpower planning, budgeting, productivity, compliance, and operational efficiency (Flight Deck) for the support of the Defense Engines Engineering Operations team. Individual will also be responsible and accountable (ownership) for developing Standard Work for multiple processes working with Section Leadership aligning defined processes within Defense & Systems Central Operation peers across 10 Defense Engines Sections and potentially beyond to improve the overall D&S Engineering organization. Develops forward-looking strategies with execution to ensure programs have adequate resources - both technically and headcount. Leads the monthly operating rhythm (MOR) for Defense Engines. Significant leadership of engagement and people plans and implementation. Key partner with finance and human resources; works closely with the Defense Engines Executive Director for resource planning, budgeting and strategic vision ensuring execution.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

In addition you will :

  • Manage engineering spend of the Defense & Systems company, customer, and cost share budgets ~$1.5B.
  • Provides management and support of the Defense Engines plant and equipment budget
  • Connect with enterprise initiatives and communicate to senior leadership
  • Support the organization's compliance and export control procedures
  • Own performance of Defense Engines operating metrics, analysis, and corrective action
  • Support needs of Defense & Systems Engineering - Defense Engines and staff
  • Lead and oversee KPIs and associated Action Plans for Defense Engines Engineering.
  • Work with Section Op's leaders on defining best practices and deploying standard work across the organization.
  • Embrace Flight Deck (Lean mindset) helping drive a culture chance and practical application of lean at the process level.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aero, electrical, or chemical engineering or physics or mathematics from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project leadership or role in an engineering environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Operations and / or Management role
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US government security clearances to programs
