Sr Quality Technician

Garrett's Motorsport division is hiring a Senior Quality Technician who will be based in our Torrance, California facility. This person will be responsible for Quality Control for Garrett OE Motorsport products, focused on incoming inspection of racing turbocharger components and other similar precision products. The Senior Quality Technician will be additionally expected to support day-to-day requests of other groups within Garrett as needed and as available, including Aftermarket Garrett Garage and Engineering R&D teams.

The Senior Quality Technician will have a full time in-person work schedule.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Performs inspection on all incoming finished parts with the use of precision tools: manual gages, CMM, video comparator, and 3D scanner.
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints to perform inspection of incoming parts and hardware.
  • Maintain Inspection Reports of measured data as required based on part type and policy.
  • Write Inspection Rejection Reports and other quality related reports as required.
  • Perform serialization of parts scheduled for Motorsport Measure & Record process.
  • Maintain calibration schedule for all applicable inspection tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate calibration on regular schedule to keep all items current.
  • Support inventory accuracy via Quality Management in SAP ERP software.
  • Maintain communication with vendors with regards to quality of parts.
  • Support 5S program.
  • Perform other duties as instructed by the manager.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum experience of 5 years in the field of quality control inspection.
  • Competence in the use of precision tools, CMM, comparator and 3D scanner.
  • Must have a mechanical background with working knowledge of precision component manufacturing and quality control.
  • Commitment to learning & following processes and maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Must be able to work closely within a small team, including Operations and Engineering personnel.
  • Willingness to perform at high level and ability to accommodate re-prioritization to meet aggressive schedules as needed.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with inspecting or manufacturing turbomachinery components, engine components, or similar precision parts, at aerospace and/or professional motorsport levels of precision and traceability.
  • Experience in warehousing and inventory management, regarding Quality Management processes necessary to release parts and transfer into warehouse inventory. Using SAP or similar ERP software.
  • Ability and willingness to continuously improve existing processes, techniques, and tools, together with Motorsport Engineering and Operations teams.

Pay Range

The hourly range for this role is between $28 and $34.

*Note that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, education, training, and/or experience.
