Proto Manager

Pune, India

The Prototype Manager is accountable for sourcing & manufacturing new developed products, with end-to-end ownership from component sourcing to customer delivery. He/She manages directly a team of purchasing, planning , quality , assembly technicians or engineer, and is responsible to drive action to meet Safety / Quality / Delivery/ Productivity / Cash & Costs targets / Inventory objectives. The Prototype Manager will support Engineering team and contribute with Site leadership to assure the respect of health and safety regulations and overall company code of conduct.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operations Management -


Responsible for the coordination of prototype operations, program management, quality and SIOP to deliver all program commitments globally;

Ensure strong coordination with other Engineering and site Sr Managers, focusing on prototype build, cost, cycle time and customer satisfaction.
Report results in weekly and monthly meetings.
Develop and manage a base of prototype suppliers.
Pilot supplier action plans to improve quality, delivery rate and costs with his/her procurement manager.
Responsible for managing prototype schedules, SIOP, MPS (Master plan schedule) adherence and attainment.
Manage all aspects of safety and health.
Ensures corrective and preventive maintenance of prototype workshop equipment.
Analyzed the capabilities of prototype workshops to ensure alignment with prototype requests
Defines capital requirements and ensures that investments are made in line with budgets.
Anticipates the development of means and the introduction of new equipment in order to cope with new technologies.
Ensures a standard in the prototype workshop , standard operating sheets.
Contributes to the site's and proto organization continuous improvement process by proposing and implementing Kaizen ideas.
Is a driving force in the use of GEM tools (SMED, Kaizen, Escalation,5whys .) and leads at least one improvement project (GEM) per year.
Participates in the HSE and Energy Management System through the site's HSE and Energy policies and the site's annual commitments in terms of health, safety, environment and energy.

2. People Management / Project Management -

Manages directly Prototype planning leader, Prototype procurement leader, prototype shopfloor leader, prototype quality supervisor .
Responsible for HPD assessment & interviews for their direct reports (MRR, PDS, etc), development plans and performance improvement plans and corrective actions as appropriate, as well as providing feedback to matricial Team members.
Drive ISC Proto skills development within the Team. Drive required actions to retain and attract key talents within the team.
Plan Team objectives and drive activities within overall budget and schedule. Actively take part on STRAP definition, AOP planning. Capex management.
Ensure strong coordination with other Engineering and site Sr Managers, focusing on prototype build, cost, cycle time and customer satisfaction.

3. Financial / Budgetary -

Manages directly Prototype planning leader, Prototype procurement leader, prototype shopfloor leader, prototype quality supervisor .
Responsible for HPD assessment & interviews for their direct reports (MRR, PDS, etc), development plans and performance improvement plans and corrective actions as appropriate, as well as providing feedback to matricial Team members.

Education :'

- Bachelors Degree or above in either Mechanical Engineering or turbomachinery, or related work experience. MBA is a plus.
- Six Sigma GB must be certified. BB or Lean Expert will be a plus. GEM knowledge required.

Experience :

Product development knowledge including design engineering, test laboratory, prototype hardware procurement, major manufacturing processes, welding, casting and machining practices.
Proven experience 5+ years in Multiple National Companies
Proven 5+ years people management experiences.

Key Skills and Knowledge:

-Demonstrated bias for action/initiative, customer focus, and a strong capability to lead in a team environment
- Proven problem solving skills, including ability to interpret data, define actions, and implement solutions.
- Knowledge/experience in product development and program management, ability to understand engineering specifications, process instructions, test instructions.
- Good knowledge on SAP ERP, data analysis, business intelligence tool.
- Demonstrated English written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with individuals of all disciplines and levels
