AME Mechanical assembly manager

The position is part of the global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team that execute the strategy and vision of Garrett product manufacturing defining the processes, methods and standards applied across plants. The scope is to drive the global activities on Mechanical Assemblies and Tests as part of the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) group. Lead a team of professional technologists and process leaders who are making Garrett Advancing Motion's manufacturing differentiated, more efficient and consistent. Leverage your manufacturing engineering experience and skills to lead the investigation and solution of challenging supply chain problems. Use your leadership abilities to contribute to the evaluation of the process to meet product specifications. Through collaboration with customers and cross functional teams, prioritize team workload and drive exceptional team outcomes. As a manager, coach your team members in technical and behavioral competencies in order to deliver high impact business results.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review & approve specification books for new manufacturing lines introduction and line upgrades within scope of GMP-1446
  • Ensure timely development and deployment of new manufacturing technologies and equipment to meet capacity needs
  • Manage technical projects timeline and deliverables with manufacturing equipments suppliers and Garrett plants Manufacturing Engineering teams
  • Approve commissioning and validation reports of new equipments and processes
  • Drive global technical roadmap with plants defining projects to improve HSE, Quality, equipment efficiency and productivity using Lean mindset
  • Consolidate Capex need (Equipments, toolings) with CapEx & Capacity AME team
  • Create yearly the Strategy Deployment Map (SDP) to execute the strategy, define Target to Improve (TTI) and report out monthly progress to leadership
  • Coordinate with indirect Procurement team the panel supplier strategy and implementation
  • Accountable for the definition and application of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines to ensure optimal conversion cost of assemblies to achieve required product function and reliability targets
  • Collaborate with Industrialization leaders, NPI team and Product Engineering to capture new technologies in NPI Ph1-6 and consolidate requirements
  • Approve Make-buy studies on new technology introduction (lead application)
  • Accountable on Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) deliverables: Risk assessments, Manufacturing plans, DFM check list, Generic Process FMEA, PI-QCI in a timely manner for Electrical Assembly and Test processes
  • Approve Process Instructions & Quality Control Instructions
  • Warrant the application of work processes and standards to ensure high production quality and process efficiency globally
  • Drive global standardization projects with plants about Mechanical Assembly and Test processes
  • Provide resources, assistance & technical expertise to sort recurrent issues on processes, equipment, tools, quality and HSE and NPI.
  • Manage team actions plan & efforts to ensure First Time Right ODT & PPAP on new processes
  • Identifies training needs, as well as the induction program for new hires
  • Sets compentency development plans (technical & behavioral) for his own reports
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection process for hiring staff
  • Set yearly goals & targets for each direct report
  • Conducts annual performance assessment of direct reports, based on individual targets in Performance system and Garrett behaviors.

WE VALUE:

  • master degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering
  • Six sigma - Green belt certification
  • Lean expert / Black belt certification is preffered
  • 10+ years of experience as Manufacturing engineer or manager in companies building automotive powertrain units (EDS, transmission, differential system, gearbos), engines components, compressor units, thermal management systems, etc...
  • ability to lead and develop effective project plans and control strategies for own work
  • extensive relevant manufacturing engineering experience
  • Knowledge on manufacturing processes: Assembly, Tightening, Press-Fitting, Riveting, Welding, Dispensing, Laser Marking, Leak Testing, End of Line Functional Testing, Robotics & Automation, Vision systems, Traceability, Quality control, Digital Factory
  • willingness to travel up to 25% of working time
  • Ability to provide solutions, drive and influence others and impact a sense of urgency.
  • English language - C1
  • Ability to drive and solve conflicting situations, problem solving & Lean mindset
  • Ability to focus on important information and identify key details
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision
  • Willingness to consistently take the initiative to get things done
