The Producer/Host, Entertainment, is a part of a core USA Today team responsible for creating and growing brand-defining multimedia coverage and series for an array of platforms. This role is part of our Series, Special Projects, and Sports studios team working in formats including (but not limited to) flagship video series, podcast / vodcast, and photo. The team works with editors, reporters, and multimedia teams across the USA Today Network.
This role is focused on (but not limited to) our entertainment and lifestyle verticals. It includes planning, writing, producing, and editing a variety of segments on a daily and weekly basis. Demonstrated knowledge and experience editing premium digital video using the Adobe Creative Suite, and proficiency shooting in the field and in-studio, is essential.
Interviewing celebrities and news makers on location, facilitating conversations with other network reporters, and hosting short-form, social-first video, are additional facets of this role. Experience and proficiency hosting and interviewing on camera for digitally native, social-first, short-form and mid-form content is essential.
The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, passionate, and naturally conversational about the world of entertainment, lifestyle and the broader news and information space. You're creative and intentional about video approaches to storytelling, coverage and analysis. On any given day across the ecosystem, you know what audiences in these key verticals are discussing, debating, and sharing, and you help identify the can't-miss video moments and news USA Today multimedia should be producing. You know how to develop and execute thematic, series-driven approaches to video that will appeal to audiences from a variety of demographics.

All producers are expected to be well-versed in the editorial and production aspects of premium digital multimedia formats, from desktop to mobile to social, with a sharp attention to detail and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. We're looking for a hands-on producer and excellent communicator, with the ability to handle projects both on their own and/or in collaboration with editors, producers, reporters, and product teams around the USA TODAY Network.
While we welcome applicants from across the country, this role is based in Los Angeles and requires relocation to California. You'll collaborate with our larger multimedia team, which is distributed across various locations nationwide.
Responsibilities:
- Execute multimedia coverage and production including development, planning, scripting, shooting, and video editing, in entertainment and lifestyle verticals.
- Host regular content ranging from short-form social video to interviews and conversations with celebrities, newsmakers, and reporters.
- Identify and produce packages of video content to support network objectives, including major events and special coverage.
- Help manage publishing processes to ensure content is optimized across multiple platforms including YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
- Regularly assess video performance using Adobe and other analytics tools, using data to make informed decisions about format, approach and promotion of content.
- Be immersed in digital video industry trends to help ensure our slate of franchises stays ahead of the curve.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in entertainment and lifestyle media and at least 3 years in digital video production.
- Experience producing and hosting video content for digital platforms in multiple formats.
- Demonstrated creativity for unique series-style approaches to a variety of topics, platforms and audiences.
- In depth knowledge and application of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficient in After Effects, Premiere and Photoshop.
- Strong writing and editorial decision-making skills.
- Occasional travel and night/weekend work, based on news and events, will be required.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $53,000 and $82,813. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
