Multimedia journalist

The Palm Beach Post is looking for a skilled, creative photojournalist and videographer who can create their own content while lifting that of others in the newsroom.

This person will collaborate with reporters and editors to produce compelling storytelling about the people and places of Palm Beach County, South Florida and Florida.

The job includes a mix of breaking news, high school, college and pro sports, features and real estate. We also ask our multimedia department to create their own content, creating stories through their video and photography skills. This person will write accurate, informative captions and copy blocks and/or short stories for their own content.

This person is expected to promote their content on social media, understand digital metrics and work to build audiences for their own work and all Post content. Flexibility, resourcefulness and strong collaboration skills are musts.

Responsibilities:

  • Creates quality multimedia storytelling using photography, videography and text that informs, entertains and engages our audience.
  • Uses audience metrics to assist in making coverage decisions.
  • Promotes their own work and the work of their colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Must have substantial professional experience as a visual journalist, through internships, freelance or full-time jobs.
  • Exceptional core photojournalism skills (reporting, photography and videography.)
  • Ability to use basic and advanced computer programs, including but not limited to video editing software, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Photo Mechanic.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Understands social media and how to respond to and engage a fan base on digital platforms.
  • Able to multitask and excel under intense deadline pressure in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Proficient in writing, spelling, grammar and AP style.
  • Command of media law and Principles of Ethical Conduct.
  • This role requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
  • Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment, post-offer drug screen, motor vehicle record check and background check.
