Job Requirements- Part of the team that prints the newspaper or a supplement by setting up the press, monitoring the process and making adjustments as necessary as well as making quality plates for the department.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the various press configurations to meet daily runs
Knowledge of the folder operation (both straight and collect)
Knowledge of basic printing press operation-correct settings for nippers, trolleys, tension bands, workstation operation, ink flow, impression settings, etc.
Knowledge of procedures for successful paster operation
An operational understanding of the plate making system works (from job setup/file transfer to plate machine operation)

Ability to recognize and troubleshoot incorrect plate output
Skills:
Ability to set up the press for optimal quality and throughput.
Ability to make consistent pasters following established standards and procedures
Ability to produce quality printing plates
Thorough knowledge of press and plateroom procedures, equipment and operations
Ability to perform routine and emergency maintenance/ repair of the department equipment
Work Habits/ Behaviors:
Team player to assure quality printing
Anticipates and troubleshoots issues on press quickly and accurately
Self starter
Reports any problems or faulty equipment to supervisor
