Volunteer Engagement- Intern 2024!

This position works within the Volunteer Engagement department. This department is responsible for recruiting, onboarding, managing and appreciating volunteers to support Food Bank's mission. In order to support these tasks, this position will:

  • Provide hands-on volunteer management to volunteers at the Community Kitchen & Pantry on a daily basis, assisting with volunteer check-in, orientation, supervision and appreciation.
  • Develop a framework for a Volunteer Leadership program, including application, onboarding curriculum, and evaluation.
  • Support volunteer recruitment efforts by researching and conducting outreach to individuals, schools and community groups.
  • Assist with large scale volunteer events, such as Harlem Week, Repacks and custom projects as needed.

Skills (Required & Recommended):

  • Compassionate, patient, and sensitive to the needs of people experiencing food insecurity
  • Basic computer skills; typing, data entry, Outlook, Microsoft Suite
  • Strong communication skills, including comfortability with Public speaking
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to volunteering and service
  • Spanish or other language skills a strong plus

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Associates, Bachelors or Masters degree program
  • Ability to work on-site at our Community Kitchen and Pantry
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and comfort with moderate lifting
