The opportunity: 

Flexport’s Climate team’s mission is to help our clients decarbonize their global supply chains. We build products and programs that enable shippers to understand the emissions from their transportation activities, and opportunities they have to reduce the environmental impact of them.  Flexport as a company also has a role to play in understanding, and mitigating the impact of our own operations. The Climate Compliance Advisor will play a critical role in balancing the regulatory requirements with customer needs for Flexport’s own corporate reporting and environmental mitigation activities. You will lead the creation and management of a global sustainability reporting system, ensuring compliance with global regulations and meeting customer demands for transparent sustainability data and policies. This role will report to the Head of Climate.

  • Ensure corporate reporting & compliance with sustainability regulations, including California SB 253 (Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act), SB 261 (Climate-Related Financial Risk Disclosure Act), and CSRD in the EU (as examples).
  • Manage the process for third-party sustainability ratings such as SBTi, CDP, EcoVadis.
  • Develop and maintain a standardized reporting package to meet customer demands for Flexport’s Corporate emissions data and climate-related risk disclosures.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of sustainability metrics (Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions) in alignment with GHG Protocol and relevant reporting requirements.
  • Ensure data accuracy and audit-readiness for limited assurance requirements, particularly in jurisdictions like California and the EU.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather necessary data and implement improvement opportunities identified through regulatory frameworks and voluntary reporting standards.  This may include work related to social and governance requirements and policy development in addition to sustainability.
  • Work cross functionally to develop the corporate roadmap for climate compliance, reporting and mitigation as well as provide knowledge support when needed to support development of our client facing climate products.

You should have: 

  • 5+ years in sustainability reporting, compliance, or environmental management (experience in logistics/supply chain preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability regulations, including EU CSRD, California SB 253 & SB 261, and emissions reporting standards.
  • Expertise in GHG accounting, sustainability metrics, and data management systems.
  • Strong analytical, project, communication, and data management skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable in a fast-paced, regulatory-driven environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset, capable of balancing short-term customer needs with long-term compliance goals.
