Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Director of Research & Development to add to our team. The Senior Director of Research & Development will help shape the future of liquid cooling. This will include coordinating projects, maintaining intellectual property, maintaining relationships with critical clients, attending trade shows, serving in the role of technical expert, participating in design review discussions, and ensuring JetCool's product remains on the cutting edge of liquid cooling technology.

Responsibilities:
- Populating and maintaining technology roadmaps. Working in partnership with Advanced Projects, Product Engineering, and the commercial teams to thoughtfully plan for the development and maturation of technology that will put and keep JetCool in the lead.
- Collaborating with Advanced Projects and Product Engineering while providing technical leadership ensuring all reliability and quality issues are resolved.
- Developing and protecting intellectual property; both in an offensive manner to protect turf that JetCool would like to work on; as well as a defensive manner through protecting turf JetCool does not want others to have access to.
- Coordinating engineering resources to ensure items gain protection and provide a clear vision (via roadmap) for where the technology is headed.
- Maintaining strong partnerships on the technical side with JetCool customers. This will include having an understanding of their current and future needs and how JetCool could help them. Examples of this include:
- focusing on a particular chip and managing a technical program to mature the prototypes to cool that chip.
- focusing on a data center level to ensure that the best alignment exists between customer needs and the infrastructure and technology we can bring to bear.
- Serve as a strong external advocate for liquid cooling and JetCool's technology and approach.
- Attending trade shows and conferences on behalf of JetCool and representing the company as a technical expert.
- Active participant in design reviews and thermal toll gate reviews for project, design strategy discussions at the outset when a product design is launched.
- Maintaining a strong external technical focus in presentations, demonstrations, and papers that provide a high level of continuous communication about JetCool's technology to the broader market and technology community.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related field; Ph.D. preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in hardware and technology development
- Strong technical background in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics, with hands-on experience in designing and optimizing cooling systems.
- Experience in intellectual property management, including patent strategy development and patent prosecution.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal teams, customers, and external partners.
- Ability to develop computational models for estimating performance metrics, quantitatively scope problems, and effectively storyboard and communicate the results to customers.
- Experience and fluency in engineering software packages (e.g., SolidWorks, MATLAB, Ansys, COMSOL, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively troubleshoot and optimize fluid system performance.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated expertise in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer, with a strong foundation in engineering principles.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple resources and projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines.
- Leadership qualities that inspire and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.
- Familiarity with data center servers, computer processors, and related electronic hardware
- Previous involvement in the design and development of fluid systems for computing, data centers, power supplies, or automotive systems.
- Publications, patents, or contributions to industry-related conferences or forums.
