Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer - Product Development will collaborate with an array of professionals including sales, project managers, procurement, production, and quality assurance teams to analyze customer feedback and continuously improve our product designs.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Meet with stakeholders to gather requirements for new or existing mechanical systems.
  • Work seamlessly with a team of engineers and CAD designers to bring engineering projects to life.
  • Guide projects from concept development, ensuring alignment with client needs and engineering standards.
  • Maintain adherence to project timelines to ensure timely delivery.
  • Help develop and refine standards for mechanical design deliverables.
  • Utilize CAD software, such as AutoCAD Inventor and SolidWorks, to create precise drawing specifications tailored to client requirements.
  • Create designs that comply with applicable regulations, industry standards, and internal company norms, while focusing on manufacturability and assembly.
  • Partner with the quality team to evaluate quality metrics and analyze product design and production times.
  • Create prototypes, conduct tests, and evaluate results to enhance product performance.
  • Provide comprehensive support throughout the building process to ensure design specifications are consistently met.
  • Identify and recommend solutions for problems that may arise during manufacturing.
  • Effectively manage change control processes as they arise.
  • Be prepared for occasional travel and availability outside normal business hours when necessary
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Preferred demonstrable knowledge of UL standards including UL 891, UL 1558, UL 67, UL 857, UL 1008, and UL 62368/60950.
  • Experience in designing electrical power distribution systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, and Vault, along with strong MS Office skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities coupled with a solid understanding of mathematics.
