Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a Customer Chief Engineer located in Farmington Hills, MI.

Reporting to the VP, Design, Process, and Technology Engineering the Customer Chief Engineer role will drive customer engagement and create NGM opportunities by intimacy with customer R&D teams - key stakeholder for flawless launch, growth and profitable business.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Ensure to be interface and "go to person" for customer related technical topics
  • Voice of customer, along PLC, portfolio
  • Manage consistent communication and messaging related to customer
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to drive company-wide needs towards delivery of the business plan
  • Support that the teams are organized to meet the project targets from quality - schedule perspective - drive solution support customer communication in escalations
  • Support the engineering interfaces as it relates to planning, execution, adjusting to
  • Monitor project execution, early indicate escalations and help to implement adjustments
  • Review engineering project budget, defined KOI and support in escalation
  • Active in customer communication which includes frequent on-site presence at the customer & teams.
  • Provide engineering group members motivation plus guidance
  • Foster customer collaboration on research and innovation projects plus understand customer "pain points" to identify add business opportunities to engage
  • Ensure we have a detailed understanding of customer roadmap and innovation strategy; identify "insights" to support in driving our product and customer strategy
  • Promote a excellent company image
  • P&L verification - "ownership / oversight"
  • Technical lead within Systems Group owns "technical decision"
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training
  • Strong communication skills
  • Electronics engineer, systems engineer experience
  • Experience proven success creating and/or improving processes
  • P&L experience
