Position Description:

Identifies, promotes, and implements best practices for data modeling, using open-source database solutions and using Snowflake, Oracle, and SQL Server technologies. Performs data analysis using Business Intelligence (BI) visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI. Facilitates the maintenance of data models within Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) environments - Agile. Expands or modifies system to serve new purposes or improve workflow. Consults with management to ensure agreement on system principles.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Designs and implements data architecture solutions that support the organization's strategic goals.
  • Works closely with business stakeholders to gather and analyze data and business requirements.
  • Creates reports and dashboards using BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and MicroStrategy Dossier. Creates data visualizations to help business stakeholders understand their data.
  • Performs complex data analysis tasks using SQL, Python, and other tools.
  • Develops and maintains data quality rules and processes, identifying, and resolving data quality issues, and monitoring data quality metrics to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams.
  • Evaluates new trends and technologies in data analytics, evaluate their potential impact on the organization, and recommend new technologies and processes that can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data analytics.
  • Partners with key stakeholders to understand business questions and to design and deliver analytic reports.
  • Collaborates with team members to develop visualization and improve data and analytics usage across the business.
  • Designs, conducts, and evaluates experimental operational models in cases where models cannot be developed from existing data.
  • Performs validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulating models as necessary.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior IT Data Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing business intelligence data warehousing development using Snowflake and Tableau.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior IT Data Analyst (or closely related occupation) performing business intelligence data warehousing development using Snowflake and Tableau.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") performing data conversion for defined benefits data services using Snowflake and Oracle SQL Server; using SQL Server to extract, transform, and load data from various sources to create clean and consistent datasets; using Tableau for data conversion, analysis, and visualization; analyzing data formulas within a defined benefits calculation engine, using SQL; analyzing complex data sets to identify patterns and trends using SQL, Tableau, and Power BI; and creating custom SQL queries to extract and manipulate data.
  • DE designing and developing Business Intelligence (BI) solutions using Tableau and MicroStrategy Dossier; creating dashboards and reports that effectively communicate insights to clients using Tableau and Power BI; leveraging various data sources to create interactive dashboards for users, using Tableau; creating custom visualizations, calculations, and filters that allow users to easily analyze data and make informed decisions, using Tableau and Power BI; creating and managing data connections, building metrics and attributes, and customizing visualizations to meet clients' specific needs, using MicroStrategy Dossier; and delivering high-quality, client-ready reports and dashboards that drive data-driven decision-making using Tableau and Power BI.
  • DE building Dynamic Row-level security (RLS) in Tableau and implementing it on Tableau Server; actively monitoring Tableau dashboards through usage metrics applications and identifying areas of improvement; managing and creating AD groups to efficiently provide access to a large group of individuals; configuring conditional access to Tableau resources through the Admin Portal to ensure secure access to data for authorized users; and using REST APIs for embedded analytics and automation.
  • DE working with business users to create technical documents, project plans, and data models using confluence, SharePoint, and JIRA Align tools; gathering and analyzing requirements from stakeholders and translating them into actionable project plans and technical documentation using SharePoint and JIRA tools; performing unit, functional, and system integration testing; creating test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure the quality of deliverables using SharePoint data mapping documents, SQL, and Tableau tools.
