The Role

The Fidelity Institutional (FI) Market Intelligence & Commercialization team is looking for a Research Associate who will become a contributing member of a small team crafting research that advises all aspects of our distribution, wealth and advisor technology businesses, from product development to enhancing the client experience. Your primary business partners in this role will be Sales, Relationship Management, Client Experience, and Product & Practice Consulting as our research helps FI understand and adapt to the evolving wealth and competitive landscape and the changing business needs of our clients.

  • MBA or CFA or equivalent experience a plus
  • 3-5 years proven experience in financial services - ideally in research, consulting, or business strategy. Experience in asset management, intermediary or institutional markets a plus
  • Ability to perform financial analysis for the purpose of understanding how a firm's strategy can be reflected in or driven by their financial health
  • Familiar with various market, competitor, and client research techniques and industry data sources used to advise strategic decisions
  • Strong ability to distill industry data from a variety of sources into concise and insightful intelligence to answer the question 'what does this mean for our business?'
  • Organizational proficiency and a proactive, creative, and collaborative approach to solving strategic business issues
  • Positive relationship building skills and ability to work horizontally and vertically within the organization
  • Executive communication skills and ability to craft compelling presentations at both a peer and executive level
  • Innovative, forward-thinker who quickly understands the context, and effectively challenges the status quo and drive commercial outcomes

The FI Market Intelligence & Commercialization team systematically captures, analyzes and interprets information about FI's external business environment (e.g. traditional and emerging wealth tech competitors) to inform strategy and decision making. We connect the dots across our competitors, clients and internal strategy to help enable our partners' success. Our research helps Fidelity Institutional understand and adapt to the evolving wealth tech competitive landscape and the changing business needs of our clients. Fidelity's hybrid working model blends the best of both onsite and offsite work experiences. Having the majority of our associates work onsite is important for our business strategy and our culture.
