Position Description:

Applicants are permitted to work remotely from an at-home work site anywhere in the United States.

Develops software and migrates desktop applications across multiple technology stacks - Microsoft .NET / C#, WPF, SOAP, and REST Application Program Interfaces (APIs) to an Angular, JAVA tech stack. Builds new and improves capabilities on modern web-based tech stacks. Contributes to RESTful service consumption and integration, common design patterns, secure application development, and application test coverage. Implements Spring Frameworks, Spring Boot, and JAVA Programming Language (Java 1.8+). Uses Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platforms. Utilizes Agile delivery methodology and participates in story writing, backlog refinement, and all Squad Scrum ceremonies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and building multi-tier, distributed, high-volume, low-latency, scalable, and cloud-native enterprise applications within a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and building multi-tier, distributed, high-volume, low-latency, scalable, and cloud-native enterprise applications within a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") managing application and database engineering development projects using Java, Angular applications, AWS, Oracle, and PostgreSQL within a financial services environment; and project managing the development of asset management applications across globally distributed teams according to Agile development methodologies and Scrum frameworks.
  • DE performing Object-Oriented Design and Java Web application development, using Java/J2EE, Spring MVC, Spring Security, SOAP, and RESTful Web Service; and developing micro-services architecture using Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • DE developing and maintaining high volume, low latency financial services enterprise applications, using back end (Java, J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, Microservices, SOAP/REST Web Service, Linux Shell Script, and Python) and front-end client-side technologies (Angular, JavaScript, Typescript, jQuery, HTML/HTML5, and cascading style sheets); writing and debugging Oracle SQL queries and stored procedures; and performing performance tuning PL/SQL.
  • DE developing distributed, rich, low-latency internet applications within the financial services industry, using Java and J2EE technologies (Spring, Servlets, JSP), Angular, JavaScript, Web security technologies (OAuth and SAML), SOAP/RESTful Web services, Test Driven Development (TDD), and Agile methodologies; and performing unit testing of Web applications, using Junit, Jasmine, and Karma open-source frameworks.
