Principal AI Software Engineer
The Role
Fidelity Investments is looking for a Principal AI Engineer to join the AI Center of Excellence (AI COE) and collaborate with a team of engineers to drive engineering enablement, AI adoption, and the establishment of processes and frameworks to leverage Generative AI (GenAI) tools across the software engineering lifecycle. This role involves evaluating, integrating, and scaling GenAI solutions to enhance developer productivity, optimize testing, and streamline software delivery.
Key Responsibilities and Skills You Bring
- Join the AI COE to lead AI-driven initiatives that enhance software engineering efficiency.
- Establish processes and frameworks to integrate GenAI tools into the software development lifecycle.
- Conduct Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to assess the impact of AI-powered automation on development productivity, test cycle time, and software quality.
- Leverage GenAI tools (e.g., GH Copilot, Google Gemini, IBM Watson) for code generation, test automation, defect analysis, and CI/CD optimization.
- Develop and integrate AI-powered automation solutions to enhance software Development, testing, monitoring, and operational workflows.
- Work with test automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Karate) to implement AI-driven testing strategies.
- Collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and engineering teams to integrate AI-driven insights into CI/CD pipelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in AI/ML implementation, automation engineering, or software development.
- Experience in conducting PoCs for AI-driven automation and GenAI tool adoption.
- Proficiency in Python, Java, or JavaScript for automation and AI integration.
- Hands-on experience with GenAI tools (GH Copilot, Google Gemini, IBM Watson) and their application in software engineering.
- Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Karate).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Understanding of AI-assisted software development (code generation, AI-based refactoring, automated documentation, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive data-backed decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of LLMs, chatbot integrations, and AI-driven automation.
- Familiarity with AI governance, ethical AI considerations, and model interpretability.
- Certification in AI/ML, cloud automation, or test automation frameworks.
The Team
The Engineering Excellence Chapter Area resides in the Fidelity Wealth business unit of Fidelity Investments. The AI Enablement COE which is part of the Engineering Excellence chapter spans across all of squads/teams responsible for developing products with the highest customer quality, security, stability, and experience. The chapter consists of over 150 multi-stacked engineers with a passion around customer experience and with the engineering tool set to seek challenges including: Automated testing, performance testing, chaos testing, application cloud migration and management, CI / CD implementation, security testing and application development.
