Job Description:

Job Title - Principal - QA Engineering

This role, as part of the WI QA group, will be critical in supporting development of our capabilities relative to automation including: supporting execution of our automation road map, working with team members to develop infrastructure and tools required across multiple technology stacks, working within guidelines and offering suggestions relative to governance procedures and overall development standards.

you will also focus on building test automation solution for UX/Mobile and/or API testing for highly available systems. You will be working directly with other Peer Quality Engineers, Software Developers, Architects and business stakeholders to translate vision and designs into sustainable business solutions. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of test automation solution for complex software applications, ensuring they are built with quality and adhering to the engineering practices, performance and responsive to the device accessing the application.

The Purpose of This Role

The primary objective of the WI QA team is to enable the WI business in the US, while working with IT business partners in the US in a well-integrated way. Over the past 10 years the team has developed technical expertise on various functions within each business line of Workplace investments, across strategic new products and within data engineering. We strive to achieve technical excellence in each of these functions and help the WI business accomplish its long-term objectives. This role focuses on the development of Automation Infrastructure in support of business needs and the technology evolution to a DevOps culture.

The individual will work closely with the Scrum master, Systems analysts, Architects, Developers and other QE resources and contribute towards delivering best customer experience.

The Value You Deliver

  • Translate business and systems requirements into technical requirements for automation and software tools & framework.
  • Design, develop, document, and maintain automated tests and software tools.
  • Actively contributing in the day-to-day planning, design, execution, and reporting of automation metrics and KPI's
  • Adhere to software engineering principles in development of automation software and develop software to test software and keeping zero tech debt with sonar quality gate.
  • Understand and apply test driven/behavior driven design concepts to test and debug automated solutions and software utilities developed by self and others.
  • Do white box testing where required
  • Deliver accurate and maintainable code for automated test suite and software utilities.
  • Collaborate with other technical resources to:

    • Suggest improvements for processes, best practices, and standards.
    • Identify opportunities to improve maintainability of automation platform.

Responsibilities in this Role

  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Lead audit preparations and manage corrective actions.

Customer and Quality Focus

  • Analyze customer feedback and field data to improve product quality.
  • Participate in customer-facing quality discussions or escalations.
  • Align quality goals with market expectations and regulatory requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a quality liaison between engineering, product management, customer support, and operations.
  • Drive cross-functional quality reviews and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to ensure CI/CD pipelines support quality gates.

Mentorship and Leadership

  • Mentor junior and mid-level quality engineers.
  • Lead training programs on quality best practices and tools.
  • Foster a culture of quality across the organization.

Strategic Quality Leadership

  • Define and drive quality strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Lead quality initiatives across multiple teams or departments.
  • Influence product and engineering roadmaps with a quality-first mindset.

Advanced Quality Engineering

  • Develop and implement advanced testing frameworks and automation strategies.
  • Champion shift-left testing and continuous quality practices.
  • Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge tools and technologies for quality improvement.

The Expertise we are looking for

Additional Responsibilities in this role

  • Translating business and systems requirements into test strategy, test scenarios and test plans.
  • Designing, developing, documenting and maintaining optimized automated test scripts.
  • Rotational QE - On-call Support in Prod and Preprod infrastructure.
  • Adhering to Engineering Practices in development of automation framework.
  • Understand and apply BDD design concepts to test software solutions.
  • Delivering accurate and maintainable code for automation and software utilities.
  • Measure and Report key QE metrics.
  • Accessibility Testing on web browser pages.
  • Contribute towards Quality Engineering chapter initiatives.
  • Collaborating with other technical resources to:

    • Suggest improvements for processes, best practices, and standards.
    • Identify opportunities to improve maintainability of automation platform.

Technical skills

  • 11 -14 Years of experience predominantly in software test/ Quality Engineering.
  • Deep expertise in different types of testing.
  • Hands-on Software Development in Test experience, which includes any of the following:

    • 10+ years of using programming languages like JavaScript/Typescript/Java.
  • Good understanding of BDD, CI-CD and DevOps concepts is mandatory.
  • Expertise in following is required:

    • Playwright/Selenium
    • Validation of RESTful web services
    • Jenkins / Git Hub Actions (CI/CD Pipelines)
  • Experience in the following is a strong plus:

    • Graph QL,
    • Mobile Device Validation
    • Client, Server Architecture
    • Cloud certification in (AWS/Azure)
    • Mobile testing (Appium)
    • WebDriver.IO
    • Service Virtualization (Wire-Mock, Firefly)
  • Understanding and working experience of Non-functional testing would be added plus.
