Head of Product Governance

Job Description:

The Role

Fidelity Asset Management is seeking a highly experienced fund oversight professional for the role of Head of Product Governance. The Product Governance team within Fidelity Asset Management is a tenured team of approximately 20 professionals that focus on the interests of our fund shareholders. Its mission is to evaluate, develop, and lead proposals through board approval into execution and serve as product specialists to enable Fidelity's investment product strategy. Proposals may include new funds, changes to funds, mergers, and liquidations, and the scope spans all Fidelity mutual funds, ETFs, and other registered funds across all asset classes and distribution channels.

This role requires a combination of deep subject matter expertise, diplomacy, communication, and a strong fiduciary orientation. You independently assess the benefits of any proposal to fund shareholders and must be comfortable expressing views that may be contrary to those of key senior stakeholders. You will interact directly with presidents of the investment divisions, the Head of Investment Product, leaders in other oversight functions, and the Boards of Trustees that oversee the funds.

The role reports to the Head of the Finance and Fund Oversight (FFO) group and is based in Boston.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Deep technical knowledge of mutual funds and ETFs and familiarity with Fidelity's fund offerings. Knowledge of unregistered investment product structures and/or alternative investments is a plus.
  • Fiduciary orientation, with ability to balance different perspectives while placing fund shareholder interests first.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to consult and influence senior leaders.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience taking controversial positions with diplomacy and grace.
  • Ability to see the big picture while paying careful attention to detail, applying independent critical thinking and judgment.
  • Proven experience finding creative solutions to resolve intractable problems.
  • Balance of interpersonal skills and analytical acumen, and ability to recognize impact on others and adapt to be effective in different situations.
  • Experience managing and leading a high-functioning team, with focus on talent development.
  • Intellectual curiosity, humility, and a genuine desire for continuous improvement.
