Job Description: Director - Software Quality Engineering
Location: Westlake, TX
The Purpose of Your Role
As a Quality Engineering Director, you blend deep knowledge of quality engineering practices and strong engineering skills with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing associates. You are deeply committed to improving the value delivered to our customers. In an agile structure, you will collaborate with other leaders to establish the standards for your department, influence the strategic decisions, and build solutions based on your expertise. You will directly manage a team of engineers who primarily work within agile teams across product areas. You are dedicated to helping them develop in their domain area and ensure consistency on how they work. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to bring the latest thinking to your role to empower others with that knowledge.
The Experience and Skills that are Key to this Role
- Seasoned technical people leader focused on leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing people and teams to accelerate and achieve increased skill proficiency
- Investment as an Agile change agent to continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain strong multi-functional partnerships and relationships at all levels of the organization
- Proven record as a confident leader with strong communications and presentation skills
- Uses a data-focused approach to decision-making, in day-to-day leadership and strategic tradeoff analyses
- Authentic investment in implementing and sustaining quality gates with an audit and governance approach
- Practical experience with quality engineering fundamentals such as test automation, data virtualization, and CI/CD integration
- Deep technical expertise with ability to drive technical solutions and automation frameworks/pipelines such as Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured, Karate, etc.
- An intellectual curiosity and passion to learn new skills and modeling a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching
- Experience in resource planning and talent allocation across large organizations
- Actively share insights, knowledge, industry practices and developments across the organization

- Influence backlog and prioritization decisions related to your area

- Align associates across teams and product areas to ensure the best utilization of talent while also building learning opportunities and content to develop skills
- Set and apply standards and ensure the work performed is aligned with established road maps

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 7+ years of Technical Excellence: Participate in building the culture of outstanding software engineering practices for the modern platforms
- Dedicated team builder, collaborator, and partner
- BS or MS degree in a technical field such as computer science/engineering or related field
- Software testing certifications preferred (ISTQB, CSTE, CAST, ICP-ATA, etc.)

You will be part of a team that works in partnership with Product Managers and Technical Leaders aligned to the Workplace Platforms product area. The teams you will be engaged with are highly engaged and enthusiastic about collaborating and solving problems.
