The Role

As the Cloud & Application Support Engineer you will work on the FI and FBOT Learning team to provide operational and application support to the technology architecture for our talent and learning solutions. You will assist in delivering business solutions through contributions to the design, development, modification, integration, and maintenance of software applications that meet business learning solution requirements and provide cloud development operations and applications support to ensure the health and wellness of technology solutions for the FI and FBOT Learning team.

The learning team for FI and FBOT is seeking a dedicated, technical, hands-on Cloud & Application Support Engineer to join our team. The primary function for this role will be to assist with software development and cloud application operations. You will oversee solutions throughout their lifecycle including creation, deployment, management, monitoring, and optimization, under the guidance of senior team members and manage infrastructure like servers and networks, tracking application performance through metrics, traces, and logs, automating tasks, and ensuring security to maintain stability and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge of Azure VM and programming languages.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring to This Role

Technical:

• 1-3 years' experience in IT infrastructure and security

• Proficient knowledge of Azure Portal, Azure VMs, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps) and deployment best practices.

• Understanding of RBAC, PIM, and secure credential management.

• Ability to follow runbooks for operational tasks and troubleshoot moderate issues.

• Experience with ServiceNow for Change, Incident, and Application Management.

• Working knowledge of Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript) for microservice updates.

• Ability to write and maintain Python scripts for automation and data tasks.

• Familiarity with SQL, HTML/CSS, and JSON for application support and integration.

• Basic Git workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews).

• Effective communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Ability to explain technical functions clearly to non-technical audiences

• Basic knowledge of iterative work processes, with a focus on continuous improvement and adaptability

• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities

• Must be adaptable to change and be able to multi-task, while maintaining a positive outlook.

• Apply proficient knowledge of Azure services to perform routine operational tasks (VM access, patching, health checks, rehydration) using established runbooks.

• Execute CI/CD deployments from GitHub to Azure VMs for talent and learning applications; validate deployments and escalate issues per defined procedures.

• Manage secrets and configurations securely using Azure Key Vault and RBAC principles.

• Monitor system health and analyze metrics to identify issues; propose solutions within defined guidelines.

• Document activities and changes in ServiceNow (Change, Incident, Application Management) following organizational standards.

• Coordinate deployments and maintenance windows with stakeholders; ensure compliance with change management processes.

• Analyze pipeline logs and troubleshoot common errors; escalate complex issues to senior team members.

• Update Node.js microservices; implement small features and bug fixes.

• Develop Python scripts for automation and operational support tasks.

• Modify front-end components (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript)

• Write and update SQL queries for data operations.

• Follow coding standards, perform basic testing, and submit clear pull requests for review.

• Understand database schemas and data relationships; apply recommended security measures to protect sensitive information.

• Ensure encryption in transit and at rest; adhere to least-privilege principles.

• Participate in discussions with learning professionals to explain application capabilities and constraints.

• Provide input on solutions within defined scope; escalate non-standard requests to the architect.
