Analyst, Business Operations and Strategy

The Role

As an Analyst on the team, you will be responsible for contributing to key projects within our Data Governance function. Our team works in close collaboration across AM Technology, our 14 AM Business Areas (Equity, Fixed Income, Digital Asset Management, AM Compliance, etc.) and our partners in Fidelity Fund & Investment Operations (FFIO). We ensure that we have clear command over our data; where it is sourced from, what data is Protected and how, who should have access, and the path the data takes through our organization. This role is an excellent opportunity to work across diverse teams and to understand the needs of fourteen stakeholders such as Equity, Fixed Income, and Quantitative Research & Insights.

Primary responsibilities for our Governance function include:

  • Contribute to content enrichment across six AM-Owned subject areas in our shared data catalogue - Research, Crypto, Trades etc.
  • Navigate new data access requests to ensure that data access is appropriate for our various stakeholders and that sensitive data is protected.
  • Help build out our revised Data Privacy Program - to ensure that we have the processes and capabilities in place to protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Create guides detailing our key tables across asset management as well as a SQL Repository to empower end users to self-provision research.
  • Participate in maturity assessments across the data management lifecycle, identifying areas for improvement and closing any gaps.
  • Be a thought leader across Asset Management business areas in how to leverage governance tools to help give consistent structure to new initiatives and empower downstream data users to self-provision research.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of experience supporting the asset management industry.
  • Experience working with investment data related to fund accounting (ex. Portfolio Reference, Security Master, Tax Lots, Transactions, Trial Balance, etc.). Preferred - not required.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data management standard processes, or a passion to learn.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex data insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Independent and strategic problem solver; accountable for and skilled in exercising sound judgment.
  • Validated attention to detail as well as effective time management abilities
  • Passion for continuous learning - Keeps abreast of the challenges facing the industry and the approaches to address them.

The Team

The Asset Management Data team was formed as a centralized team within Asset Management (AM) to drive a Data First mindset, given the increasing importance of building data strategy into initiatives across all aspects of the organization. The team embraces a spirit of entrepreneurship, collaboration, and innovation as we work together to navigate the data challenges of emerging businesses (Alternative Investing, Digital Assets) as well as the modernization of traditional investment and data distribution platforms (Invest One, Geneva, Oracle, Snowflake) and methodologies.

AM Data provides strategic thought leadership, data fluency education, data governance oversight, data quality expertise, data request prioritization and a variety of other utilities to AM. We aim to help simplify engagement, accelerate delivery, integrate business perspective, and improve the quality of all things data. Working closely with leaders across Asset Management and other key Fidelity business groups, we drive a One-AM approach to data investment and priorities for the AM business.
The base salary range for this position is $60,000-115,000 USD per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
