Job Description

As a valued contributor to our team, you will design and develop unprecedented solutions for information technology (IT) infrastructure environments in solving complex or unusual business problems across several projects, programs, or products. This work includes coding, testing, and certifying technology platforms, software, and applications.

The Platform Engineering Principal Engineer role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Apply your extensive knowledge of principles and advanced techniques to develop solutions for application design and IT infrastructure components.
  • Understand the end-to-end performance of IT platforms.
  • Establish and maintain policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor performance and capacity metrics for technology solutions while identifying and developing plans to address long term trends or issues.

Minimum Required Experiences

  • 8 years

Skills

  • Ability to frame ideas as systems and analyzing the inputs, outputs, and process
  • Working with people with different functional expertise respectfully and cooperatively to work toward a common goal
  • Influencing including negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflict
  • Programming including coding, debugging, and using relevant programming languages
  • Experience identifying and selecting strategic options, and identifying resources to meet the defined objectives
  • Skilled in cloud technologies and cloud computing
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining consistency of a product's performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information
  • Experience monitoring and managing operation systems (OS), and staying current on patches, upgrades, and other elements of the OS
  • Communication including communicating in writing or verbally, copywriting, planning and distributing communication, etc.
  • Product Development including designing products, developing product roadmaps, translating design requirements, prototyping, etc.

  • Skilled in using UNIX
  • Experience using APIs for developing or programming software

Desired Experiences

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment as in Individual Contributor.
  • Deep understanding of platform architecture, scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Experience designing and building Internal Developer Platforms that abstract infrastructure and streamline developer workflows.
  • CI/CD pipeline design and optimization. E.g. Gitlab
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Container orchestration platform (e.g. Kubernetes, ECS)
  • Networking, load balancing, and service mesh (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
  • Focus on simplifying developer onboarding, tooling, and workflows.
  • Building self-service capabilities (e.g., golden paths, templates, service catalogs).
  • Strong coding skills in languages like Go, Python, or Java.
  • API design and integration.
  • Understanding of microservices and distributed systems.

The hiring range for this role is set forth below. Final salaries will generally vary within that range based on factors that include but are not limited to, skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications.
