Job Description

This full-time associate role, beginning in July 2026, has a set annual gross base salary of $110,000 a year.

As a Technology Program Associate, you will work with innovative technology on diverse teams that foster originality and collaboration. We offer an opportunity to receive on-the-job training and professional development while building a wide network of peers, managers, and officers who are experts in their fields.

Technology Training Program

  • An opportunity to develop and implement technical and analytical skills

Your full-time career will begin in July 2026 with a comprehensive 12-week technology upskilling program. Our robust curriculum will teach you how to use the technology and tools within the Fannie Mae technology stack, ensuring you are able to take charge of your career and be successful on any technology team within our organization.

The program includes:

  • Full stack training, including front and back-end development, DevOps, and AWS Cloud


  • Access to courses, sandbox environments, interactive learning scenarios, and live training to provide you with experience building skills and using tools leveraged across Fannie Mae's technology ecosystem:


  • Front-end: JavaScript, Angular


  • Back-end: Core Java, Core Spring, Spring Boot, SQL Databases, RESTful Services, Python


  • DevOps: Cucumber, Selenium, Gitlab, Docker, Jenkins


  • Cloud: AWS

After training completion, you will be assigned to a team from the functions below within Fannie Mae's Chief Operating Office:

  • Chief Information Office: The CIO accelerates the enterprise's technology transformation initiatives, enables comprehensive technology engagement with business partners, and defines the next horizon of technology priorities. CIO delivers a consistent approach for the alignment of technology to business priorities and communication across technology and business stakeholders. CIO coordinates across the entire technology stack to improve services and is responsible for Fannie Mae's technology assets, cyber security, enterprise data assets, and implementation of digital solutions that enable the business and deliver value for its customers.


  • Chief Data Office: Responsible for creating a business-focused data strategy, driving strategic insights, customer-centric innovation, and measurable value for the business and the industry. This includes helping solve borrower and lender challenges through data, AI/ML, and other tools, driving efficiency with our data, and governing data usage.


  • Chief Strategy and Transformation Office: Leads the implementation of the COO strategy and supports the execution of our corporate priorities by aligning initiatives, championing continuous improvement, and modernizing our technology stack.

As an associate in our technology training program, you'll join us in delivering innovative technology solutions and services that enable Fannie Mae to help build a future where homeownership and affordable housing is accessible for all.

There are multiple openings for this position, which will be based in our Reston, VA (Reston Town Center) and Plano, TX (Granite Park) offices.

Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Qualifications

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship


  • Academic achievement (preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher)


  • Bachelor's or master's degree obtained between December 2025 and Spring 2026


  • All Technology Associates will begin in July 2026

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer Sciences and Engineering majors are preferred. Other technical majors will be considered based on a candidate's technical experience and/or aptitude.


  • Strong understanding of software development and programming in languages such as Java, JavaScript, C++, or Python


  • Proven ability solving problems, debugging, troubleshooting, designing, and implementing solutions to complex technical issues


  • Familiarity with various technical frameworks and Agile development methodologies


  • Experience with databases, software design and development in a test-driven environment


  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to contribute to a team atmosphere


  • Self-starter, strong business acumen, and results focused


  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written
