THE POSITION
Our roster has an opening with your name on it
FanDuel is seeking a Tax Manager who will join our growing Tax Team. In this newly created role, you will be responsible for supporting the FanDuel US and TSG US groups. The Tax Manager will support tax compliance, tax provisioning, transfer pricing, research, and tax planning for direct and indirect taxes. You will have the opportunity to build and refine complex tax workpapers and financial models, and assist with the building, implementation, and maintenance of automation within the function (e.g., Alteryx, RPA, etc.). The Tax Manager will also assist the tax senior leadership team with managing the junior members of the Tax Team. This role will also require the Tax Manager to work closely with business functions throughout the company as well as regularly partnering with the international tax team at Flutter Entertainment.
This role represents an exciting opportunity to help shape the tax positions and processes across both US operating groups and the online gaming industry at large in a fast-paced and rapidly growing marketplace.
THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions including footnote disclosures
- Prepare and review direct and indirect compliance workpapers and filings, including Federal and State income tax, property tax, sales and use tax and GST/HST
- Build and refine SOX internal controls related to the income tax provision process
- Support internal audit team's review of the income tax provision
- Support Flutter tax and FP&A teams with tax forecasting and tax planning matters for use in budgeting, strategy, and cash flow planning
- Prepare and reconcile tax related accruals as part of monthly accounting close process including transfer pricing entries
- Work closely with the other members of the FanDuel Tax Department to identify and implement potential process improvements across the entire Tax Function
- Work with the other members of the FanDuel Tax Department and the FanDuel Risk Management Team to continue documenting all relevant tax processes and controls
- Manage relationships with the other internal business functions, external strategic partners, and external tax and legal advisors
- Own key elements of the audit defense and tax controversy work streams across all tax types
- Drive key elements of the continued expansion of automation throughout the Tax Function
- Build/refine multifaceted tax workpapers, financial models, and tax automation under the direction of the FanDuel Group Tax Department
- Liaise with international, federal, state, and local taxing authorities and regulatory bodies
- Manage a variety of ancillary tax processes (e.g., sales taxes, business property taxes, local business tax filings, vendor contract review, etc.)
- Assist the FanDuel Group Tax Department with a wide variety of tax planning projects across all lines of business within both US operating groups
- Monitor and analyze proposed and newly enacted tax legislation, regulations, rulings, court cases, etc. to determine the impact of tax exposure to the company
THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another similar business field
- 5-8 years of professional US corporate tax experience (preferably a combination of public accounting firm and private company experience)
- CPA certification, Enrolled Agent certification, or J.D. is required
- Experience working in the technology, gaming, sports, and/or media industry. Highly regulated environments (e.g., banking, telecom, infrastructure, etc.)
- Demonstrates intimate knowledge and/or a proven record of success in the following areas:
- Tax provisioning and accounting for income taxes
- Tax provisioning software (e.g., OneSource Tax Provision) and/or analytic tools (e.g., Alteryx)
- Corporate and Partnership US Federal and State income tax compliance
- Demonstrates abilities and/or a proven record of success, as both an individual contributor and team member, in the following areas:
- Being a self-starter with the ability to bring strong analytical rigor to decision-making with a focus on getting the right answer
- Streamlining cross-departmental ways of working and collaboration in pursuit of common company goals
- Strong Excel skills with a desire to continually maintain and improve those skills
- Openness to learning about new areas of tax and financial reporting (via internal trainings and continuing professional education courses)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort with presenting to senior tax and non-tax business stakeholders

The applicable salary range for this position is $114,000 - $143,000, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may offer the following benefits: medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; disability insurance; a 401(k) matching program; among other employee benefits. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation.
This role includes paid personal time off and 14 paid company holidays. FanDuel offers paid sick time in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws.
