Controls Engineer: AutoCad and Electrical Design

Our client, a leader in engineering solutions, is seeking a Controls Engineer: AutoCAD and Electrical Design to join their team. As a Controls Engineer, you will be part of the engineering department supporting innovative projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Controls Engineer: AutoCAD and Electrical Design

Location: Durham, NC (Hybrid - 3 days onsite)

Pay Range: $90,000 - $120,000/yr

What's the Job?

• Design control panels using AutoCAD, including electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Manage and distribute electrical power systems, particularly in industrial or utility settings.
• Work with switchgear and generators, critical components of backup power and microgrid systems.
• Support the design and integration of systems that combine solar, battery, and generator power sources.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve design conflicts and challenges.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 3 years of relevant experience.
• 5 years of hands-on experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable.
• Understanding of power distribution concepts is essential.
• Experience with Bentley MicroStation (OpenRoads, OpenPlant, OpenBuildings, or Civil 3D) is required.
• Familiarity with ProjectWise and leading drawing production for medium projects is a plus.
