About the Client
The health and fitness software and payment processing provider in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico. Founded in 1981, they currently work with 7,000+ health clubs. Customer offerings include payment processing and gym management solutions that allow managers to track memberships and schedules and automate payment processing functions.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the migration from Azure Synapse to Databricks, ensuring scalability, performance, and data integrity across multiple data streams
- Design and implement robust data architecture solutions, including:
• Initial and incremental data loads
• Data marts and consumption layers
• Integration with reporting tools such as Power BI - Define and enforce architecture standards, ensuring best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and storage optimization
- Collaborate with product, business, and analytics teams to translate requirements into scalable, high-performance data solutions
- Optimize data pipelines for efficiency, reliability, and maintainability in production environments
- Establish and maintain data quality frameworks, including unit and integration testing
- Diagnose and resolve pipeline and performance issues, ensuring platform stability
- Stay current with emerging technologies in the data and cloud ecosystem, continuously improving architecture and development practices
- Mentor engineering teams, providing technical leadership and architectural guidance throughout the project lifecycle

- 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering and cloud-based data platforms, including hands-on experience in data architecture and design
- Proven production experience with Databricks, including the design and implementation of large-scale, enterprise-grade lakehouse architectures
- Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, Delta Lake, and multi-layered architecture design (raw, curated, and consumption layers)
- Strong proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL, with a focus on performance tuning and optimization
- Expertise in data modeling, governance, security, and compliance best practices
- Skilled in defining reference architectures and standards for scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
- Experience integrating reporting and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) with enterprise data platforms
- Proven ability to mentor and guide engineering teams, ensuring architectural alignment and best practices
- Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environments with a focus on scalability, cost efficiency, and long-term platform evolution
