Overview

Join a team that's shaping the future of indoor mapping and positioning technology. At the Esri R&D Center in Vienna, Austria, we lead the research and development of cutting-edge indoor positioning and systems use in the ArcGIS IPS. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mobile Automation Test Developer to join our QA team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks for mobile applications across iOS and Android platforms. Your work will ensure high-quality releases and a seamless user experience. In this foundational role, you'll design and evolve a resilient automated test framework that reflects real-world use cases. Your insights will guide thoughtful interpretation of test results throughout the development process. When issues arise, you'll support the team in understanding where, why and how they occurred. Through your dedication and influence, you'll contribute directly to delivering dependable software to users across the globe.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated test scripts for mobile applications using frameworks like Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, or similar
  • Develop and maintain robust test frameworks for mobile testing
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA analysts to understand requirements and ensure test coverage
  • Perform code reviews and contribute to best practices in test automation
  • Analyze test results, identify bugs, and work with development teams to resolve issues
  • Document and communicate software issues found during automated and manual testing
  • Monitor and maintain test environments and devices/emulators
  • Continuously improve automation strategies and expand test coverage

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience in a similar position supporting similar responsibilities
  • Professional experience in mobile test automation
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Java, Kotlin, Swift, Python, JavaScript)
  • Hands-on experience with mobile automation frameworks (Appium, Espresso, XCUITest)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and more)
  • Strong understanding of mobile platforms (iOS and Android) and their testing challenges
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (such as Jenkins) for automated deployments and test execution
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field

Recommended Qualifications

  • Experience working in ArcGIS platform technologies
  • Knowledge of performance and security testing for mobile apps
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • ISTQB or other QA certifications
  • Quick to learn and adapt to emerging technologies
  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field

Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range is

€37.100 - €50.400 EUR
