Job Summary

As the Vice President (VP) of Core Product Services, reporting to the SVP of Infrastructure within Equinix's Global Markets and Products Organization (GMPO), you will lead a dynamic, widely distributed team of 100 software and product engineers. The VP's mission will be to drive the growth and development of common services for Equinix's Infrastructure, Interconnection and Edge products used by our customers globally.

By consolidating groups aligned around common patterns, this team streamlines development and enhances efficiency, focusing on areas such as a shared compute platform expansion, build pipelines, telemetry substrate, and Identity and Access Management. This approach enables diverse service teams to prioritize solving customer problems rather than managing foundational technologies.

The VP Core Product Services ensures scalable, secure, and agile processes adaptable to evolving technologies. As the VP, you will emphasize delivering on the product roadmap through collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers, and business leaders to achieve product-market fit, build early traction, and scale effectively.

Key priorities include fostering integration, accountability, rapid iteration through automation, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance practices and build capabilities for sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Build, coach and expand the Product and Engineering teams to support business success
  • Drive technology roadmap for Infrastructure Core Services, aligned to company strategy and priorities
  • Lead multiple scrum teams to review requirements, provide impact assessment on architecture, lead capacity planning, execution, review technical design, test planning and ensuring code quality
  • Inspire innovation among teams, recognizing and disseminating new ideas across multiple global locations

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Define Infrastructure Core Services technology requirements and work with cross functional teams to deliver solutions to address market opportunities and risks.
  • Work with functional stakeholders for Infrastructure Core Services and also with cross-product engineering, architecture, product management, user experience teams to ensure that the platform needs are understood and a vision to build the cross-product platform
  • Ensures execution to align with broader Infrastructure Services and engineering and Product Management best practices
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to define and manage cross-product platform non-functional matrix including service standards, SLA's for uptime & monitoring
  • Works closely with CTO and CDO organizations and multiple internal cross functional teams and executive leaders

Infrastructure Services leadership

  • Provides forward thinking thought leadership and guidance for creating Infrastructure policies and standards that are in line with Infrastructure priorities and expectations
  • Collaborate with architecture council on technology evaluation and PoC
  • Proactively adjusts Infrastructure process framework based on internal and external market dynamics
  • Partners cross functionally and cross regionally to develop globally standardized processes and policies
  • Oversee translation of Infrastructure Services and Network Edge
  • requirements into high quality technology development that meets scope, scale, timeline and budgetary requirement

Innovation and continuous improvement

  • Proven thought leadership in leading Agile software development methodology and apply rapid delivery of features and releases using Continuous Integration /Continuous Development
  • Develop repeatable processes for the development, deployment and lifecycle management of the platform
  • Track record of responsibility for driving the research of Proofs of Concept and forward-looking strategies for cloud networking products

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in software management leading large global software teams of 50+ engineers as a manager of directors / senior directors
  • Strong cloud networking product experience and experience delivering software-defined SaaS products
  • Proven experience leading and developing an enterprise-grade common services platform with multiple upstream applications
  • Solid experience designing, developing, and running cloud-based production systems with high availability and reliability
  • Strong intellect, ideally with a master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering

The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

• San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $276,000 to $414,000 per year
• California (Non-SF/Bay Area), Connecticut, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Washington state: $274,000 to $410,000 per year
• Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $260,000 to $390,000 per year

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
