Senior Manager, Instructional Delivery

Job Summary

In this exciting role, the senior manager is responsible for developing and executing the strategy for delivering technical training to our worldwide engineering and technical staff that build, operate, and maintain our data centers. To be successful, they will need to build regional based teams in the Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific regions. Training delivery requires instruction with select subject matter experts that report directly into this organization and are also distributed throughout our Data Center footprint. The senior manager will ensure that all instructors are prepared and qualified to deliver technical content for new hires and for existing employees. The senior manager will also be responsible for collecting data and reporting on the efficacy of learning, skill attainment of staff, site preparedness as measured by skill set and work proficiency, skill gap identification, and the creation of standard (global) and custom (local) training plans to ensure proper workforce preparedness. They will be responsible for rolling out the training delivery model in all global regions where Equinix operates and work with cross functional leaders to modify regional implementations based on country, state/province, local governmental requirements. This will require close cooperation with the compliance team to ensure all locations have met or exceeded requirements. They will also work directly with third party vendors including those in the learning and development space as well as all our equipment vendors who provide critical infrastructure components in the data center environment. This will entail creating events and sessions for training large and small cohorts on an ongoing basis. Finally, the senior manager will work directly with their own team to develop individuals in their career paths resulting in high manager ratings, low attrition rates, and positive environment and cultural advancement for both individual and organization.

Responsibilities
Training Program Management

  • Develops, implements, and monitors training programs across organizations

Instructional Design

  • Works with functional leads to identify internal SMEs to participate in requirements gathering, provide content input and review and approve training course content

Training & Training Delivery

  • Provides logistical support, course development, delivery, evaluation, process measurements, and cost management

Project Management

  • Manages multiple concurrent objectives, projects, associates and activities to prioritize and allocate time appropriately

Metrics & Analytics

  • Utilizes measures, benchmarks, or scorecards to monitor, evaluate, and report on training program effectiveness, success, and ROI

Team Leadership

  • Builds solid cross-functional relationships

Business Consulting

  • Leads the execution of training strategies and adjusts as needed to achieve business results
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders at different levels in the organization

Strategy

  • Creates key measures (KPIs) and benchmarks to consistently provide high quality and relevant deliverables in a timely manner
  • Influences cross functional organizations to create/deliver effective training

Qualifications

  • Proven success in managing teams of instructors or teachers in a commercial or academic setting
  • Able to manage a budget and provide forecasting, cost analysis, and return on investment for current and future initiatives
  • Solid communication skills that are effective both upward and downward throughout an organization
  • Confident and strong execution of presentation material that will be provided to individual contributors and to executive management
  • Proven ability to plan and execute broad impacting strategies in a global or highly distributed large team
  • Comfortable with public speaking in a classroom, virtual or hybrid environment
  • A self-starter with a proven track record of creating, implementing, and evaluating Instructor-Led Training (ILT)
  • Proven ability to build and manage global projects using a proven project management methodology such as Agile
  • Ability to guide, and in some cases write, instructional design documents leading to instructor led and on-the-job training course work
  • Proven ability to build and manage global teams

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with educational or training experience
  • Professional training certification or master's degree in education or business administration
  • Data center and facilities and/or Operations Experience
  • Experience with owning and managing a budget
  • Prior experience training and developing instructors
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience implementing adult learning theories and instructional design models
  • Well-developed instructor platform skills to include creation of training materials

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
