Senior Manager (F/M/D) Electrical Engineering

Job Summary

You lead several specialist teams in the areas of engineering, controls, and technical asset management.

Responsibilities
Team Management

  • Leads and manages the team to ensure optimal performance of the Data Centres
  • Develops and motivates team members, and drives results

Technical Support

  • Investigates technical issues and provides root cause analysis
  • Develops and implements strategies to minimize future issues

System Support

  • Manages the troubleshooting and fault resolution of complex issues by investigating the issue, identifying the cause and implementing the required fix

Facilities Management

  • Approves recommendations and pricing with local suppliers and keeps servicing records to ensure that datacenter infrastructure is properly maintained

Budgeting

  • Reviews and approves proposals for data center infrastructure improvements

Reporting

  • Reviews routine status reports on data center performance

Standards

  • Accountable and responsible for adherence to and evolution of global standards

Qualifications

  • You will have an Electrical Engineering background with ideally proven years' experience working in a similar role in a data center operations environment
  • Proven leadership track record demonstrating a collaborative and consultative approach
  • A high level of knowledge about German rules and regulations such as VDE, etc.
  • Strong understanding of all Engineering disciplines within a data center operations team
  • Experience in design, commissioning, operation and maintenance of complex electrical power distribution system in a Data Centre environment
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associates/ Advanced Diploma and demonstrated experience in Operational Engineering applications
  • Has expert level system knowledge (HV/MV Substation, Standby Generator, switchboards, UPS & batteries, Static Transfer Switch, power quality, protection study, fault level analysis)
  • Familiar with firmware and settings for UPS, STS and Generator and also with electrical switching procedures
  • Expert operating knowledge of engineering systems to include advanced diagnostics and repairs
  • Ability to apply knowledge of Equinix processes and procedures and industry standards to resolve non-routine issues
  • Utilizes safe working practices at an expert level
  • Interacts with other engineering, design and construction disciplines
  • Works with the capacity and site engineering teams to resolve power and/or cooling limitations and optimize resource utilization
  • Leads and manages multiple projects or other design and engineering initiatives
