Senior Lead Sales Engineer, Platform Alliances

Job Summary
Lead field sales engineering position selling Equinix solutions to new accounts and/or expanding existing accounts for our Hyperscale business. Focus on strategic global accounts including Platform Alliances, facilitating account planning, leading extended sales team on complex multi-region/ multi-metro sales.
Responsibilities
Strategic Engagement
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to hyperscale customers, aligning long-term infrastructure roadmaps with Equinix capabilities across metros and regions.
- Align hyperscaler roadmaps with Equinix's capabilities, focusing on high-density deployments, power and cooling availability, and sustainable site strategies.
- Guide, influence and support site selection, deployment phasing, density planning, and infrastructure lifecycle decisions.
Pre-Sales Leadership & Technical Governance
- Lead technical discovery, solution validation, and partner engagement for hyperscaler-led programs and proof-of-concepts.
- Own technical deliverables (RFx, solution diagrams, configuration specs) and coordinate with internal stakeholders (Global IBX Ops, Product, Engineering, and Real Estate).
- Ensure partner deployments align with IBX standards, power envelopes, sustainability goals, and customer SLAs
Solution Design
- Collaborate with customers to design scalable, deployment-ready infrastructure blueprints optimized for hyperscale needs.
- Drive design and validation of solutions involving liquid cooling technologies, high-throughput storage, and interconnection architectures supporting low latency and massive scale.
- Ensure all solutions meet compliance, resiliency, and operational efficiency standards as required by the customer
Innovation & Thought Leadership
- Monitor and anticipate hyperscale infrastructure trends, including emerging compute types (AI accelerators, quantum adjacency), cooling models, and workload distribution shifts.
- Act as a bridge between partner engineering, customer strategy, and internal technical teams to influence Equinix's services roadmap
- Represent Equinix by leading technical forums, contributing to industry working groups, or speaking at partner and industry events focused on AI infrastructure, liquid cooling, and hyperscale deployment best practices
Customer Centricity (Internal & External)
- Advocate for customers internally by translating their evolving infrastructure requirements into actionable technical strategies.
- Ensure customer needs are embedded in solution architecture, operations planning, and partner engagement activities.
- Work across Equinix functions-product, operations, legal, and real estate-to proactively resolve customer blockers and optimize long-term infrastructure fit.
- Serve as a long-term strategic resource for hyperscale accounts, helping them future-proof deployments and meet business objectives.
Collaboration & Communication Skills
- Operate effectively in a matrixed environment across sales, product, operations, and partner teams.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder management and the ability to balance technical depth with executive-level communication.
- Facilitate productive cross-functional discussions and navigate ambiguity with structured thinking and clear articulation.
- Deliver presentations, technical write-ups, and customer engagements with clarity and business alignment.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of the hyperscalers, OEMs landscape
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues and provide solutions to client needs
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
